I’ve seen some very average and aesthetically unfortunate biraicial women get pursued from among their friendship group which had some really beautiful dark and brown-skinned black women. It’s so perplexing to me and I can’t be the only one who sees it.
How many of your faves would still be hype up if they were NOT biracial and light-skinned?

I deprogrammed myself out of hyping average lightskinned women when I started questioning whether they would still be considered special by the masses if they were BW.

(Here, Jorja Smith)
People go out of their way to call average black women ugly but are mute about light skinned non-black women.
If Cardi B had been a BW, would her career have advanced this much? And would people let her exist peacefully without calling her ugly every 5 seconds (like Lupita)?
People seem to know what “ugly” features are on Black womenswear and can determine when a BW is “average” but ugly stops existing when it’s a lighter skinned woman. And of course, there’s still texturism and featurism involved, so skin colour isn’t the only factor.
* on Black women
It’s really sad that some of us have to imagine these women as dark skinned before we actually realise they’re objectively average/ugly.

I no longer have to do this but at the beginning, I did. I’m definitely no longer swayed by public opinion on who is hot/beautiful.
The reverse is applicable for black men. So many Black Women had to start asking – is he good looking or is he just dark skinned?

This is why no one can ever bully me into thinking Chadwick Boseman (or any other overly hyped black male in the media right now) is hot.
