To expand on the first part of this: Lin has internalized most things as her fault, in a v calm and matter-of-fact way oh shit I have to do the dishes, more later https://twitter.com/rollformirk/status/1243231072269238272">https://twitter.com/rollformi...
OK GOT DISTRACTED, ANYWAY.
This is a thing that& #39;s very difficult to show in-character, because it& #39;s not something Lin consciously acknowledges much even to herself! She doesn& #39;t ever outright think "I am to blame for my parents leaving me and Ae" -- ofc not! That& #39;s stupid, and she knows better.
But! Her dad left when she was 6, and her mom was mostly incapable of doing the "oh no honey it& #39;s not your fault" thing. And then four years later, her mom and stepdad left! And obviously it wasn& #39;t AE& #39;S fault, because Ae was a baby and the Best Person! So that leaves... Lin.
(this is why she& #39;s much more furious at them on Ae& #39;s behalf than her own. They should have taken her with them! Or stayed until she was old enough! Lin was ten and could probably handle it but Ae was TWO!)
I forgot there was supposed to be another half to this thread
