Why wait for gov.? Even without a sewing machine, you can DIY fabric masks. Here is a very good tutorial w/ 3 different types of masks. (1/5)
My personal fav. (w/ sewing machine) is this (that you can add dried wipe or cut vacuum bag as filters): (2/5)

Choosing materials:
Outside layer = splash-proof AND breathable
Filter layer = exchangeable (cut vacuum bag, dried wipe or even tissue paper)
Inside layer = breathable AND absorbent
You will need several masks to exchange daily, or when necessary. (3/5)

Some comparations. TWCECC's been educating general public to use surgical masks when visiting hospitals, taking care of patients, or having URTI. But we only get 3 surgical masks/week, so ppl also use fabric masks for daily protecton. (4/5)

Some reminders:
1. NEVER forget masks have limits.
→Cover ur 👄AND👃!
→*Wash ur hands* right after removing used mask.
2. Use a Ziploc to store ur spare mask; change mask at least daily, or when necessary (=WET).
3. Wash masks w/ soap, sterile when necessary. (5/5)

How to make a *regular* surgical mask more comfortable and face-fitting? Try Double Z (or the pressed-Ω) folding.
⚠️Wash ur hands before handling ur mask!
👍 Add more room for ur 👃&👄
👍 Reduce the gaps between the mask and ur cheeks.

What they need is "mask-covers", because HCWs've been asked to re-use N95 respirators. Mask-cover is worn outside of a N95/surgical mask, so *breathability* is more important.

When using surgical mask, remember to press the wire on top of the mask (near your nose) so it can be more face-fitting.

Another important thing: after removing your mask, *wash your hands right away*. The outside (or if the wearer's sick, then the inside also) is considered *contaminated*, so remove and dispose with minimum contact, then do hand hygiene immediately.

⚠️Keep the used mask AWAY from DIRECT heat!!! (Or it melted.)
⚠️110℃ of DRY HEAT for 8 mins.
👍Can keep BFE>99%, but PFE drops a bit each time (-1.3~-14.2% by TFDA). Max 3-5 times. https://twitter.com/audreyt/status/1245381627804450816?s=19
