/ Folks in Red States who think C19 isn& #39;t a threat to them are not only stupid re: the science and awful people for their nonchalance about the deaths of others, but also miss a key point. The economy of this country relies on those states they hate and cities...
/ THOSE are the engines of growth that power the entire economy. NOT your little 1-stoplight, nobody-ever-comes-here-and-everybody-young-moves-away small towns. 40% of new jobs in past several years have been in CA, not WY/OK/NE/ID. Not AL/MS/AR...
/ And even in the red states, it& #39;s the CITIES there and metropolitan areas that power the economy of those states too. It& #39;s not small West Texas towns with a Dairy Queen and tumbleweeds. It& #39;s Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin. ALL blue dots in your red states...
/ Here in TN it& #39;s Nashville, Memphis and Chattanooga--all blue dots. NOT Bucksnort and Bug Scuffle y& #39;all. If we die, you die. If our economy collapses y& #39;all are done too. Without the economic dynamism powered by city folk there is no American economy....
/ And I know, rural areas are where farming takes place and we in cities are grateful for THAT. We know we can& #39;t survive without them either. We get that. What they don& #39;t get is that w/o us they wouldn& #39;t have enuf people to sell their products to...can& #39;t sell to dead people...
/ So we& #39;re all in this thing together and if we don& #39;t get past this tribal urban/rural civil war shit the country dies. It& #39;s precisely this "what happens to people over there doesn& #39;t effect me" nonsense that got us in this position in the first place.
