It terrifies me when I see girls/women on TV believe/state passionately that the best day of their lives (echo) is their wedding day.
That belief just goes so uninterrupted that no one challenges it, it’s just assumed that it should be.
Give your daughters/nieces the gift of raising them to believe that the best day of their lives would not just be their wedding day.

Teach them to anticipate so many best days, that a wedding will simply be one of the many celebrations of changes in their lives.
Because this belief exists, some women are so eager to experience the “best day of their lives” that it becomes more important than who they marry.
There are so many instances where consistent red flags are ignored, in favor of experiencing this societal rite of passage.
Also there are so many times that men take advantage of this societal desire planted in women.
Promises made to “give you the wedding of your dreams”, delays your urgency in ridding yourself of this person who is fucking awful for you.
It’s so dangerous to buy into this belief.
Many women who have had weddings will tell you it’s just a day that goes by really fast where the expense and fixation is even often questioned and for some, regretted.
You have many best days ahead of you, and learning that early will help you make better choices for you.
“It’s the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE and my family/fiancée won’t support me having (insert insane request).”

Relax. You should have many best days, and it’s fucked up that you were raised to put all your energy into celebrating yourself on the one day you share it with someone else.
“Even though he has hurt me countless times, he got on his knee and promised me the wedding of my dreams”.

So what happens after the party?
After we are all released from this quarantine, please try to have as many celebrations as you can, small or huge with you as the center focus. Get so used to it that you are able to make clear headed decisions for who you partner with, outside of the promise of a wedding.
