Zoom has stopped the data leakage to Facebook. That’s good. But their privacy policy is still a complete trash fire that belittles privacy legislation, and grants themselves the right to do exactly what they were just caught doing. https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/z3b745/zoom-removes-code-that-sends-data-to-facebook
What’s astounding about this privacy policy is just how transparent Zoom is about the nastiness of adtech. That data provided by Zoom to Google will be combined with other sources, and this stew of plundered data is then sold to the highest bidder for as targeting.
On top of their atrocious stance on privacy, they also seem to have a very lax approach to security. Remember when Apple had to release a fucking OSX update to protect users from their silent, unremovable server? https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2019/07/zoom_vulnerabil.html
There are an endless list of great alternatives to Zoom. Here are some: @whereby @remotehq @Use_screen @usetalky @bluejeansnet @highfivehq @jami_social @lifesize
We’ve been giving @whereby a try at Basecamp. But if that, for whatever reason, shouldn’t cut our muster, we will try one of the others on the list. What’s for sure is that you don’t need Zoom or endure their shitty privacy policy or lax security stance.
