I’m sick to my stomach. Congress just excluded one of the poorest demographics from the largest economic stimulus package in the history of the world. Are you a college student whose parents still claim you as a dependent? Well you get absolutely nothing from the stimulus bill.
I would love to know the reasoning behind this. Why are dependents under 17 receiving $500 while 18-24 year old dependents receive $0? Why would they completely exclude one of the most financially vulnerable populations in this country when they are spending TWO TRILLION DOLLARS?
So right now I am asking everyone to please share this news with your friends/peers. Many of my friends were completely unaware that they wouldn’t be receiving any help. Get mad. Call your senators and representatives. Let’s make sure they know that leaving us behind is wrong.
Retweeting this is a great way to spread awareness but please call your congressional offices. Their numbers can be found with a quick google search. Since most are going to be out of their offices you can also tweet them. I would love to see the youth use our voices finally.
Seeing people arguing in the replies is very sad. Why is it such a bad thing to help everyone during this pandemic? Why can’t we come together and make sure no one’s left behind financially in this crisis?
Please google your representatives and find their office phone numbers. Call them and leave a message voicing your concerns and demanding answers. CALL TODAY AND CALL AGAIN TOMORROW!! They do work for us even tho it’s hard to tell from their actions. Alright now I’m muting this
