BokuAtsu where they remember each other from highschool n Bokuto is rookie on the BJs and Atsu is at tryouts and they immediately just,, wanna compete their hardest bc they didn’t rly get to play against each other then they actually get out on the same team when day 3 rolls—

+around instead of being against ea/o they have to play together and Atsu sets the perfect toss bc if course he does and Boku just lights up and he nails a perfect line shot against his Meian and Oliver and he is so pumped bc that was his first toss from Atsu and it was so good—

+he’s almost as in love w this new setter as he loved Akaashi his best friend in the whole world and ATSU man he’s just glowing because damn he was good and there was NOTHING like seeing Bokuto jump for his toss and light up with the PERFECT shot and he gets really—

+competitive now letting Boku fly higher and hit harder and it’s like soemthing clicks for him in a way it hasn’t since tossing for ‘Samu in highschool except it’s better because there’s no chalking it up to twin telepathy or some other bullshit and they don’t win that 2v2 BUT—

+it’s the most fun either of them have had since highschool and it feels so light that they just know they need to improve and they slap hands and swear that’s just as sure as hell what they’re going to do— improve w each other— and Boku has no doubts that Atsu made the team—

+and from then on they just feed that fire and eventually that on the court chemistry sweeps over to off the court when they hang with the team, Atsu despite his prickliness is a team favorite along w Sakusa, and they have a lot to work on ofc bc who doesn’t—

+but they still inspire the drive to push higher and harder to achieve their dreams, they have some rough patches but w a little help from Osamu and Akaashi they realize the friendship means more to them than they really thought and they get to working that out but—

+they’re both kind of shy about it bc they don’t wanna upset the balance they have but they can’t know if they don’t try and neither is the type to pussyfoot around when they want something and the absolutely confess at the same time and it’s the most unromantic thing ever—

+because they kept trying to making it special and neither of them are good at romantic shit and it fails so spectacularly BUT SOMEHOW they manage to get the words out and they both just about die laughing and their holding hands under a stupid street light in an empty road—

+near where their apartments are and it somehow is simultaneously shitty and ugly but perfect in every way and they gravitate towards each other until Atsu’s eyes flutter closed and their noses touch just before lips brush so sweetly over each other for the first time—

+ the laughter from before returns in nervous giggles and blushes on cheeks and they kiss again and again giddy in a way they hadn’t expected and they love every second of it, every bit of each other, and all their fears are put to rest when they return to practice—

+and somehow theyre an even stronger duo than before its kind of terrifying and ofc the team just knows what happened and in the locker room after Meian and Oliver are giving $20 apiece to a smug looking Sakusa and they’re embarrassed but proud and they noogie Sakusa—

+and all is right in the world and they’re happy and in love
