The Dictatorship of the Proletariat is not Socialism/Lower Phase of Communism a thread (1/8)
In Chapter V of State and Revolution Lenin separates them for a reason. As well as explicitly stating it along side a Marx Quote saying the same thing. (2/8)
I think some of the basis of this confusion among many Marxists is that Lenin calls the USSR Socialist, or talks of victory of socialism. Lenin makes clear the way he views this at a speech given at the third all Russian congress. (3/8)
Lenin shows this same logic in other works from Economics And Politics In The Era Of The Dictatorship Of The Proletariat (4/8)
DOTP and Socialism must be separate, if there is no classes under socialism how can it be a dictatorship of a class. Someone might argue he says between Capitalism and Communism so that must be Socialism, except he says Socialism is classless, other quote makes this very clear. 5
This quote from a speech given at The All-Russia Congress Of Transport Workers Lenin again makes clear that Socialism is classless and it means the end of the Dictatorship of Proletariat. (6/8)
Just to extra hammer it home from Bukharin, The Politics and Economics of the Transition Period, and the second image from Bukharin and Preobrazhensky's ABC of Communism. Both works written while Lenin was very much alive by other Bolsheviks. (7/8)
I do think part of the confusion that results in people conflating the DoTP and Socialism is the tendency to use Communism to refer to both the lower phase and higher phase and socialism for the lower phase. (8/8)
Just to add something, if this is a mistake you made reading it that is fine. This is a very common misunderstanding. Shaming people for not knowing something does not help them learn it, trying to learn this and making mistakes is ok and is part of learning
