My girlfriend and I made a massive list of movies to watch while we’re stuck at home. We wrote them all on small pieces of paper and we take one out to watch almost every day. I’m going to use this thread to keep track of them and how we felt about them.
First random pick was actually Onward.

We both loved it. Sad material but not intensely heart breaking like Up or Coco.
Second pick was “When Harry Met Sally”

I was blown away by how amazing this movie was. Maybe my favorite Rom-Com I’ve ever seen.
Next was Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.

We’ve seen it, it’s just so good.
This one was my doing. She had never seen Hook so I put it in there. It’s...good, but the same when you see it as an adult, I think.
Last night we watched Dolemite is my Name. It was insanely enjoyable and better than I thought it would be. Hoping Wesley Snipes has a third act as a comedy actor. He’s got it.
Just finished Life. This was a movie my gf watched when she was young that I had never seen (like Hook but vice versa). It was fun watching Eddie in another R rated comedy, but it’s actually kind of a sad movie.
Last night we watched “Fighting With My Family”. It was fun, kind of a typical sports movie, but these two were the best part.
Just finished Marriage Story and it was very good. Kind of fascinating to watch so soon after When Harry Met Sally. It was the polar opposite of that movie. When Charlie Divorced Nicole. Brilliantly acted, well directed, and not as depressing as I anticipated (still sad tho).
Just finished Smoke Signals (1998). The first movie entirely produced by a Native American cast and crew. It was an interesting story told from a perspective we rarely get.
We did a double feature tonight and watched Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Taika Waititi is a damn genius and this was excellent. Took me basically the entire movie to figure out this was Sam Neill though.
Just watched Girls Trip for the first time. Definitely not made for me but I enjoyed it because my gf enjoyed it.
Watched Princess and the Frog tonight. Keith David is the man as this character. It was like an evil Genie.
Well, Sorry To Bother You is one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. Also terrifyingly captures American attitudes. How does this movie exist? Anti-Capitalist, pro-anarchy, ultra stylish movie with an entirely minority cast of protagonists with only white villains.
Tonight we watched 1917 for the first time. Roger Deakins is the greatest cinematographer ever. The movie itself was very good. Sort of an English Saving Private Ryan. I did sort feel the one-shot thing was a bit unnecessary though.
Grosse Point Blank was the next movie we picked out. This movie is soooo 90s. It’s like if someone tried to make a Tarantino movie less violent and more funny. I loved it.
We’re watching Rocketman now. We’ve seen it and we both love it, but I especially think I channelled my hatred for Bohemian Rhapsody into how I feel about this movie.
We just watched Sister Act 2 and I don’t regret it as cheesy as it is. I can still pinpoint this scene as the moment I fell in love with Lauryn Hill. This movie was 5 years before Miseducation and just watching it you can tell she could do anything.
Took about a week off from this and got back to it last night with Baby Driver. Edgar Wright is one of the most entertaining directors and every movie he makes is amazing every time you see it.
Watched Death of Stalin last night. You can definitely tell that Ianucci’s the man that created Veep. They’re both Game of Thrones with desperate fools. He loves to point out the idiocy of world leaders.
Last night we watched Nightcrawler. I’d seen it, Ashley hadn’t. It’s a great weird and dark movie with an amazing performance by Jake. It was basically what I wanted from the Joker movie initially.
