massive overnight jump, in Indiana, in number of cases AND number of deaths

the Republican governor took a too little, too late approach and it’s showing in everything that is happening here
they’re still doing almost no testing at all here
i think even deaths are under-reported b/c i don’t think cause of death is investigated often
but the massive overnight leap in number of cases is CHILLING
later, she scolded a nursing home for sending 3 COVID-19 cases to the hospital

😔😔😔😔
the idea is that Indiana has few hospitals and is going to be overwhelmed almost immediately; nursing homes are being urged to keep the elderly in their beds and basically let them die there. that’s the subtext. it’s EVIL.
this is UNQUESTIONABLY an ableist & ageist diatribe against people in “long-term care,” saying that they should NOT be moved to hospitals b/c they are worth less, that doing so “exposes healthcare workers to the virus” (UM?!?!) and uses up resources needed for more deserving ppl
she is presuming the healthcare workers at these long-term care facilities were incompetent to judge when these residents needed to be moved to a hospital

it is not her place to quarrel with these patients’ doctors’ decisions! but she’s not doing that. she’s saying the patients
themselves, by virtue of being residents of “long-term care facilities,” were simply not worth the resources of the state of Indiana.

idk who to tag in here

someone, please tag in someone
New York: We’re going to build a ton of beds

Indiana: We’re going to need y’all to die at home
When this happens in Indiana and elsewhere in the US, it will be b/c of policies like the one I describe in this thread https://twitter.com/ihpower/status/1245478031734513665?s=21
