Where: small town of Aralugappe, KA
Dynasty: Hoyasla, King Vira Someshvara
Date: 1250 CE, 16 point stellate design, friezes depict scenes from Ramayana & Bhagavtham.....
Day3: Lakshminarasimha Temple
Javagal Ka
Hoysala 13th century

Pretty up there on the exquisite scale I’d say
Day 4: Ramalingeshvar temples
Avani, Kolar
Built by the relatively unknown Nolambas
399 CE
Day 5: Amriteshvara temple
Amritapura KA
Built by Hoysala general Dandanayaka
1196CE
Features Lathe turned pillars of perfection,
Stone inscription with a poem by Kannada poet Janna
Day 6: Ikkeri Aghoreshvara temple dedicated to Shiva
Ikkeri Ka
Built in the 15th century by the Keladi Nayaka dynasty
A charming blend of both the Vijayanagara & Hoysala styles
Day 7: Kaleshvara temple
Kalgi KA
Chalukyas
Circa 12th century
Stellate design sitting in the middle of a natural spring pushkarini! Shamefully “maintained” by ASI
Day 8: Mahadeva Temple
Referred to as the “Emperor among Temples” and “second only to Halebidu”

Ittagi KA
1112 CE
Built by Mahadeva, a general to Vikramditya VI of the Kalyani Chalukyas

Built by Kadamba dynasty King Shivachitta in their capital
in 400sCE

Doddagaddavalli Ka
An unusual Hoysala temple which has Kadamba style shikharas!
Built by Hoysala King Vishnuvardana in 1114CE
Day 11: Someshvara temple
Kolar Ka
Built 14th century by the earliest Vijayanagara Kings
Customary ornate pillars & elaborate Kalyana (wedding) mantapa
Day 12: Twin temples of Nageshvara & Chennakeshava
Mosale KA
A 12th century Hoysala Masterpiece, built by King Veera Ballala II. Each temple has been called a “perfect twin” of the other! Absolutely exquisite!
Day 13: Saavira Kambada Temple
Moodabidri KA
1430CE
Jain Basadi built by Devaraya during the Vijayanagara dynasty
Noted for its 1000 pillars
Day 14: Moole Shankareshvara Temple
Turuvekere KA
Built in 1260CE by Hoysala King Narasimha III
The town of Turuvekere was founded in the 13th century as an agrahara, an institution for education and learning
Day 15: Doddabasappa Temple
Dambal, Ka
12th century temple built by the Kalyani Chalukyas
Soapstone temple features an original 24-pointed uninterrupted stellate plan and beautiful pushkarini nearby
