in the 8 days since the first COVID-19 case on the navajo nation, our nation now has 49 cases. that number is growing every day.

i’m starting a thread of all the ways you can support the navajo nation during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⬇️
chizh for cheii:

although they reached their goal, they’re continuing to raise funds to assist elders, chop/haul wood, and deliver care packages to diné elders who are under a shelter in place order. https://www.gofundme.com/f/chizh-for-cheii
friends and followers, please add more community resources, fundraisers, and campaigns below as you become aware of them. personal $ links are also welcome, especially since many of us live on or support family on the rez. 💞
in the 6 hours since i started this thread the number of cases on the navajo nation increased by 20. we are currently at 69 confirmed cases on the navajo nation. 😨 these campaigns and the donations made to them make a huge difference. please continue to share. 🙏🏽
bluff area mutual aid is accepting donations to provide food and supplies to utah diné https://twitter.com/itsjanetkwon/status/1243016970582339588?s=21 https://twitter.com/itsjanetkwon/status/1243016970582339588
side note: if you’d like more background on the economic + health status of the navajo nation + hopi nation, this thread by @DineMillennials provides important information about our reservations + why your donations matter during this pandemic. https://twitter.com/dinemillennials/status/1239591052354306053?s=21 https://twitter.com/DineMillennials/status/1239591052354306053
we are currently facing a massive shortage of groceries/ supplies across the navajo nation due to lack of infrastructure, hoarding + some price gouging. while it’s only a minor inconvenience for some, it presents a dangerous situation for others. https://twitter.com/canoecanoa/status/1240392563212902400?s=21 https://twitter.com/canoecanoa/status/1240392563212902400
i’ve been emphasizing support for our elders but young children, who’ve had school cancelled for weeks, also face the terrible risk of food insecurity; “hot zone” communities especially. educational orgs donating resources, supplies, etc. to navajo communities is appreciated.
“Within the last 2 days, there has been a 40.8% increase in cases/day. If we don’t comply with the advice of health care and pandemic experts to stay home and isolate, we will continue to see greater and greater increases in confirmed cases on the Navajo Nation.”

call for aid from a doctor who works at tuba city indian health services. wanted to share this as a reminder that the ENTIRE indian health system is STRUGGLING to address COVID-19. as a result, native people + communities will most likely suffer the consequences.
yá’át’ééh abíní! ☀️ ☕️ so happy to see the reach of this thread. please continue to share, add links to resources, + if you or your family need assistance on the rez, please share your personal $ links. 💞

thank you to @shotheekwe for putting this together! this call out to settler allies is an important one. not only are you living on stolen land, you have multiple layers of privilege. if you have the means, be a good ally and support native folks. https://twitter.com/shotheekwe/status/1243356570613764096
. @KeInfoshop is a diné, feminist, anti-capitalist collective. they are providing emergency support and supplies for unsheltered community members of the Navajo Nation, who’ve been largely ignored throughout this pandemic. http://keinfoshop.square.site
