The Federalist is a menace to public health that has regularly supported racists. @CBSNews and @FoxNews should be ashamed of giving its employees regular platforms.
Here's a background thread on who they are for those who are only seeing their ignorant and dangerous advice for handling #COVID19
It's a factory of bad takes that was founded by a serial plagiarist named Ben Domenech. He also for years was on the payroll of an authoritarian govt of Malaysia. Naturally, he never disclosed to editors who published his stuff.
I was one of those editors. I helped him out back when I was conservative and managing editor of the @dcexaminer. We ran dozens of pieces to help him get an audience. He never told us that Malaysia paid for the articles and he wasn't a struggling entrepreneur
Further details on his Malaysia shill operation https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/rosiegray/covert-malaysian-campaign-touched-a-wide-range-of-american-m
Domenech's career was harmed so badly by the revelation that he had to start his own operation because people wouldn't have him. That's where The Federalist came from.
Since he started The Federalist, the publication has published a tremendous number of awful articles. They also had a "black crime" tag just like Breitbart
To this day, The Federalist proudly features an interview with alt right activist Faith Goldy. Domenech's interview with her was conducted right after she was fired for being a guest on the Daily Stormer's podcast https://thefederalist.com/2017/10/30/faith-goldy-free-speech-globalism-alt-right-immigration/
The Federalist is the classic example of how the Religious Right is really about Christian supremacism. They even published a piece from a guy saying he'd vote for Roy Moore even if Moore had molested his daughter
I wrote about this larger phenomenon a few years ago. The Federalist was vehemently anti-Trump. Until he became the GOP leader. Then, they threw away their alleged "moral absolutes" since Trump said he would work for Christian supremacism https://www.salon.com/2017/12/01/roy-moore-the-federalist-and-the-decay-of-the-conservative-mind/
Domenech and all of the senior editors at The Federalist are dim-witted snowflakes who cannot debate. They block people who call the on their bullshit.
Here's a thread from @UrbanAchievr and others showing The Federalist being concerned about "black crime" https://mobile.twitter.com/AtticusGF/status/913451464244072448
The Federalist, whose founder, Domenech, is a commentator with CBS News, will literally publish anything if it comports with a Christian supremacist agenda. Here's a piece saying that neonazis are just the same as #BlackLivesMatter
http://thefederalist.com/2016/09/06/alt-right-mirror-image-new-left/

Until it began promoting conspiracy theories about Russia, The Federalist was mainly concerned with promoting discrimination against LGBT people, especially transgender people. It has published literally hundreds of articles promoting bigotry https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&biw=1034&bih=553&q=gay+site%3Athefederalist.com&oq=gay+site%3Athefederalist.com&aqs=heirloom-srp..
For those who can't see the original "Black Crime" tweet, try this one https://twitter.com/UrbanAchievr/status/913450931706048512
. @CBSNews would not hire Breitbart writers to hold forth on the news. It should not do the same with anyone from The Federalist. But they'll only realize their error if enough people show them this thread.
Besides outright boosting white nationalists, The Federalist has claimed that celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day is a a glorification of "slavery, cannibalism, and mass human sacrifice" https://twitter.com/FDRLST/status/917415613676576768?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Here's a piece at The Federalist arguing that liberals are the real anti-Semites and that Jews concerned about the alt-right are deluding themselves https://thefederalist.com/2016/12/22/yes-lefts-anti-semitism-pronounced-alt-rights/
Here's a top Federalist writer captured by @jbouie arguing that it's totally impossible to say that Donald Trump or anyone is racist https://twitter.com/jbouie/status/1156310420854050816?lang=en
Here's a piece arguing that people who have pets but do not have kids are mentally ill https://thefederalist.com/2017/05/09/pets-instead-kids-considered-psychiatric-disorder/
Here's The Federalist warning of the nefarious, evil, and dangerous "Transgender Mafia" https://twitter.com/mmfa/status/702966338986201088
As noted by @EricKleefeld, The Federalist has called for parents of transgender children to socially isolate them by withdrawing them from school and banning them from using the internet https://twitter.com/EricKleefeld/status/1174396208548368384
The Federalist has published so many stupid, racist, and bigoted articles that there's a popular Twitter account, @FederalistPitch dedicated just to collecting and mocking it all
Besides dispensing dangerous #COVID19 advice from unqualified people, The Federalist positively LOVES Trump's "Chinese virus" distraction campaign https://twitter.com/FDRLST/status/1240679425018138626
And of course, they publish articles lauding Trump's dangerous denouncements of the news media as the "enemy of the people." This is the outlet that @CBSNews has been promoting for months. https://thefederalist.com/2018/10/09/never-trumper-democrats-went-gonzo-kavanaugh-now-hand-red-hat/
The Federalist has published several items over the years tagged by the term "demographic winter," a white nationalist idea that white-dominated nations need to have more children and stop immigration to stop Muslims from taking over the world: https://thefederalist.com/tag/demographic-winter/
Concern about "demographic winter" is one of the primary ways in which the Religious Right is fusing with full-on white nationalism, as documented by @kathrynajoyce and other writers https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/missing-right-babies/
More on "demographic winter" and white nationalism https://www.politicalresearch.org/2014/07/03/demographic-winter
Still more on "demographic winter" https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2018/01/02/fighting-eurasia-identitarian-intellectuals-far-right-strategists-and-christian
This is the sort of racist and bigoted material that @CBSNews promotes (certainly unknowingly) when it features people from The Federalist on @FaceTheNation.
And finally, here is The Federalist arguing, as captured by @jaredlholt that "the nation might be better off letting a few hundred thousand people die" from #COVID19 rather than letting the economy pause for a little while https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/the-federalist-asks-is-america-better-off-letting-people-die-from-coronavirus/
