If people continue to be stuck on the flu narrative and that “only the elderly are dying” maybe we need to reframe and clarify things a bit.

1) young people are dying too

but perhaps these attitudes are springing from misunderstandings of the other serious effects of #covid19
Scenario 1) you are healthy, you drive to your friends and get into an accident. You’re taken to a hospital but trauma is so swamped your care is severely delayed hours. This delay results in life long sequela that may have been avoided. The system is overwhelmed. Stay home.
Scen 2) You are healthy, you continue to carry on usual, hosting a happy hour at your place for your friends. You get #covid19. Turns out you're not that healthy. Many people can live blissfully unaware of autoimmune conditions until their 30-40s. You may have an underlying cond.
MAJOR POINT 3: Regardless of your health, if you end up on a vent, it is not good. The recovery is long and your lungs may have damage. There will be rehab, there will be psychological effects. Your life will not be the same. Do not chalk this one up to modern medicine
this is NOT "just this flu" and this is not just some round of treatment and everything goes back to normal. This is not fear-mongering, this is informed consent. You need to know the risks.
& because misinformation is rampant, check out this paper for info on long term effects and survival rates. Dont take my search for it. There are many. As always, be sure to verify any information you share comes from a reliable source #epitwitter
