i think i just saw implied all might slander 😔😔😔 i don't want to rise to it but please i'm in quarantine and have nothing else to do besides get protective of my fictional father
he's a chara that has experience with projecting an image of an unfaltering pillar + pushing away ppl that want to help him. he did a lot of good for society but in one known case (unintentionally) helped foster the idea that to be the strongest, you do everything on your own
cue "i only ever wanted to be strong like you", and all might admitting that he focused too much on that person's strength...he is literally just trying to help prevent his own mistakes! not telling someone to change their whole personality, but to accept vulnerability/help
idk this fandom is weird sometimes because i feel there are many cases where we'll be like god hero society/culture is messed up! and then some get mad when faves are put on a path to help change that, as if it steals their agency/spirit/whatever you want to call it
ALSO MY HEAD SPINS because other times ppl will be like AM is insane for encouraging bkg's unique way of inspiring deku a;fdjs like lbr here. what some actually don't like is that he encourages their partnership and ability to support e/o
this is a swerve but i love the concept of the OFA vestige being AM's younger self because obv he and deku share ideals but the way he initially presented himself as a hero was so different? deku is just so raw and openly emotional in all ways, he changed AM in that regard 😭
anyway i just think it's interesting/realistic that there's a cycle here of mentors having good advice that can become flawed or misinterpreted, so nana's "smile" became that for AM, and AM's "symbol" became that for bkdk (but especially bkg)
(the main reason it wasn't as bad for deku was because he always saw winning as admirable and specifically saw it in bkg as a person closer to him than the faraway vision of AM; bkg by contrast couldn't reconcile winning just like AM with needing help or saving)
i'm happy that AM gets to advise them and in the process change/grow himself, rectifying some damage his symbol helped bring about. because my heart dies when i remember that this won't be easy with uhh. shigaraki. 💀
going back to deku, i don't want to undermine that he also had to alter his vision of AM because that's what the whole exam was about, not just bkg accepting working with deku but deku accepting that AM isn't a god, that he CAN lose...bkg was always prepared to surpass AM
(not the same as being prepared to see him lose his power while rescuing him, ofc 🥺 i'd say deku always saw kacchan as human, took him a bit for the same with AM)

I'M JUST RAMBLING NOW tl;dr there's nothing wrong with changing perspective, you don't lose what makes you special
