We add 입니다 (im-ni-da) to sound formal because it is the formal simple present conjuction of 이다 (i-da) while 이에요 (i-e-yo) is the standard simple present conjuction and 임니까 (im-ni-kka) is the formal interrogative conjuctions of 이다 (i-da)
A lot might think it is very complicated because ㅂ in korean is 'p' or 'b' but we pronounce it as 'm' in 입니다 (im-ni-da)
It is called Nasalization where we use our nose to form a sound.
It is logical to pronounce ㅂ as p/b but in reality, when we speak korean, we pronounce is as 'm' depending on the word.
For example:
입니다 (im-ni-da) same as to 감사합니다 (kam-sa-ham-ni-da)

For example:
입니다 (im-ni-da) same as to 감사합니다 (kam-sa-ham-ni-da)
When ㅂ(p/b) meets ㄴ(n), ㅂ(p/b) will sound like ㅁ (m). We don't pronounce it as ipnida or ibnida, kamsahapnida or kamsahabnida. It will be awkward to say it.
Same when ㄱ (g/k) meets ㄴ (n).
작년 in romanization is jak-nyeon meaning last year. But we don't pronounce is that way. We pronounce it as jang-nyeon, not jak-nyeon. It becomes 장년 (jang-nyeon) in pronunciation but 작년 (jak-nyeon) is still the right spelling.

When ㄱ (g/k) meets ㄴ(n), ㄱ(g/k) becomes ㅇ sounded like 'ng'.
Another example is 막내. This is mak-nae when romanized but we pronounce it as (mang-nae) because as we can see, ㄱ meets ㄴ.

These are the basic and common phrases that BTS say when they are live on Vlive.

잘 지내셨나요? (Jal jinae-syeoss-nayo?) but you have to pronounce this as jal jinae-syeo-nayo.
Both means how have you been or how are you
