Both football and basketball federations in Turkey waited for politicians to make the decisions to finally postpone the games, risking the lives of everyone. Speaks volumes of their 'autonomy'.

Turkey’s infection rate is rising the fastest in the world.
But the piece doesn’t mention the increasing testing capacity (+20K a day) while, say, the UK struggles to keep it around 10K & confirms similar numbers every day (3K new cases a day) https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/07/turkeys-covid-19-infection-rate-rising-fastest-in-the-world

That is despite the fact that Britain has arguably an established, more robust, state-of-art, much more developed pharmaceutical sector and research than Turkey.
One could even argue that UK has the highest infection rate per tests carried a day, if that's ever a criteria.

When there's an abundance of data, you could probably find something to write about for every country impacted by coronavirus at this point. But I guess the main question will come down to how many cases are there per million, what the mortality rate is over the long term etc.
Things might get bleak in Turkey in a couple of weeks when the daily COVID-19 deaths start to increase, though, that's a real possibility as is for pretty much everywhere in the world.
Ends.
Ends.

#BREAKING: Turkey imposes curfew in its 30 biggest cities and Zonguldak from tonight midnight until Sunday midnight to curb spread of coronavirus. https://twitter.com/AACanli/status/1248684716154327040
Reports of long queues forming in front of bakeries and grocery shops as people try to get supplies before the curfew comes into force in Turkey. https://twitter.com/nevzatcicek/status/1248693304948031488
Really wondering what the logic behind announcing a curfew just 2 hours before imposing it, sending people into streets in panic and have them gather in big numbers is
More reports of queues forming at bakeries and grocery shops: https://twitter.com/tvnet/status/1248693539074170880
And this one's from Tuzla, Istanbul showing queues outside a bakery as well. https://twitter.com/gztcom/status/1248693227886194688
Public relations is not a buzzword, it's a must.
Turkish govt will shortly issue guidance on which businesses may remain open (groceries, bakeries, pharmacies etc). That should've been done earlier.
Damage may already have been done.

Opposition HDP's honorary president Ertugrul Kurkcu says, by law, neither the Ministry of Interior nor the President has the authority to impose a curfew, as such a measure can only be taken under state of emergency and is subject to parliamentary approval. https://twitter.com/ekurkcuHDP/status/1248743972190683136
This is an interesting angle because a curfew has long been argued for by the main opposition politicians, especially in Istanbul by the mayor, but looks like the legal basis for imposing one without state of emergency never came up.
