8a/ IMO, this album's version of "Machine Gun" is hardly the best. My favorite is on the 4-album "Songs for Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts (Live)". They basically recorded all 4 shows between Dec 31, '69 and Jan 1, '70. Check it out here: https://j.mp/2UVpmBv 

8b/ So, my favorite version of "Machine Gun" is from the 2nd set on 1/1/70. The groove under Jimi is just so face-scrunchingly mean.

8c/ Lastly, tho, that 1st set on NYD 1970, that "Machine Gun" version is where Jimi, Billy and Buddy come out BLAZING, and really pushing the tempo in a way that gives it a heightened urgency. It's exhilarating in a whole 'nother way.

9/ A fave 2019 album was Stormzy's #HeavyIsTheHead. Multiple strong cuts: "One Second", "Audacity", " Don't Forget to Breathe" and, of course, "Own It"
