I’ve noticed a few people asking for game recommendations during quarantine.

Here are of a few of my favourite games to sink a lot of hours into (somewhat ranked):
1/ The Witness

- Solve puzzle panels in a beautiful environment (it’s so much more than just that)
- Iterations on this mechanic
- See the world differently
2/ Journey

“Before enlightenment there is the mountain. During enlightenment there is no mountain. After enlightenment there is the mountain again.”

- Rethinks multiplayer gaming
- Ascend the mountain
3/ Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy

- Ascend the mountain the hard way with a sledgehammer and a cauldron for legs
- Try again
4/ INSIDE

- Every frame is a painting
- Pushes the boundaries of the traditional side-scrolling platformer and unspoken narratives
5/ The Talos Principle

- Philosophical puzzler asking deep questions about AI and what it means to be human
- Stays with you long after you’ve finished
6/ Firewatch

- Plays like a good book
- Gripping story driven by a 1:1 conversation throughout
7/ Stephen’s Sausage Roll

- Cook sausages evenly
- The most difficult puzzle game I’ve ever encountered
8/ FEZ

- Tears up the rule book on platform puzzle games
- Tears it up again
- Beautiful, near-impossible level design and world map
Bonus round/ iOS games worth picking up...
