Ill never speculate on why they reunited, but reading this interview, with this unimaginable thing occurring around is, it is interesting. He contemplated reunited, as America got more fuxked. And it seems like it might have been the catalyst that lead to them reuniting

I have no definite answers regarding the return, only ideas. But mcr's return was sparked by the disarray of America's landscape in 2016/2017 it appears. By this interview, gerard felt mcr was needed again. But mcr didnt know they'd be needed this much by their fans.
