Okay, this is my Smallville rewatch thread! Welcome!
Me, always during the Smallville theme song:
Aw hell here we go with this Lana Lang shit
CHLOE SULLIVAN AND HER WALL OF WEIRD IS THE MOST UNDERRATED CHARACTER ON THIS ENTIRE SHOW
Too bad Allison Mack is...y’know 😬
The angsty rock Smallville soundtrack is PEAK 2000s
Lmao the gag is she never does 🌚
I want someone to convince me that Lana Lang in Smallville is actually a really interesting character. Like write me an essay; I will gladly read it.
Season 1 Football Clark Kent is a HOTTIE
He is hot but also a big dummy. He ran into a burning room to get Chloe and instead of getting her out, he stood there hugging her. Sir, this is not what we meant when we said “Use your best judgment.”
I also want to note that Lex truly did like Lana from the first time he sees her in 1x02
Wow season 1 Chloe giving a football player her number after Clark aggressively tells the dude he’s not her type is me and like every friend I’ve ever also been romantically entangled with this is making me feel things help
Chloe and her lack of luck in the dating department despite being a top tier character on this show for its entire run hits too close to home.

Every time.
Assuming I can’t live in a brownstone when I grow up, the Kent house is actually probably my dream home.

It might actually just be bc it’s yellow and there are sunflowers outside.
THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT CHLOE SULLIVAN DESERVES BETTER
NO ACTUALLY THOUGH

Can we talk about the fact that FIVE episodes into the show, Chloe tells Clark explicitly to treat her better AND YET he’s surprised when Chloe cuts him off in season 9 after he consistently treats her like dirt for 8 seasons.
I meeeeaaaaaaaannnnnn

Is Lex wrong tho?

[Lex tells Clark: “A high school boyfriend isn’t a husband, he’s an obstacle”]
What if I just write a small book of personal essays inspired by characters from Smallville lmao
LMAO this is now an out of context Smallville account
Okay but an excellent present for me would be Clark’s #8 Crows Jersey js
*writes essay about the sunflower motif in Smallville*
LMAO Martha’s face while Clark and Lana are talking I have to stan
I’m calling my essay collection “Kent Charm” 😂
I feel like the most relatable part about early Smallville are how well the parts about how hard it is to be friends with someone you love are written, both with Clark and Lana, and also Chloe and Clark
Clark/Lex season 1 was honestly such a great friendship, I really regret that not working out 🥴
My recent camera roll is just photos of my art and stills from Smallville
Johnathan Kent is a top 5 favorite Smallville character for me
I really really dislike Lana Lang and I understand why Chloe’s losing it.
Johnathan and Martha every time Clark says he and Lana are just friends
I mean. Yes Clark is cute. Yes his crush on Lana is relatable. But like...was there ever a conversation about how creepy-stalker-y it was for him to be looking through a telescope at her house?????
She can’t seriously be mad?

?????????
See this is why I couldn’t be Lana Lang; I ask too many questions

Clark pops up out of nowhere, asks to borrow her most prized possession (the necklace made from the meteor rock that killed her parents) with zero explanation and she says yes and hands it to him BEFORE asking why
I mean fine or whatever. It just couldn’t be me.
Actually ep 1x12 is a really good explanation of what makes Clark so special. Any random person could have his powers but they couldn’t be Superman. It’s his Kent upbringing and strong sense of responsibility and morality that Jonathan and Martha teach him that makes him super
I know we’ve had this conversation before/people have written about this, but that’s why Smallville is SUCH an important piece of the Superman mythos and gives important context to CK as a hero. Without it, I can see how people think he’s boring tbh.
I also like that we see the development of his moral code in 1x12. Clark is a Boy Scout with or without his powers.

But also Smallville shows the VERY MANY WAYS Clark is lacking in some arenas.

Being led by the desire to be fundamentally good leads him to be judgmental
But also doing the “right thing” or the “just thing” is not always the KIND thing. And therefore Clark occasionally doesn’t extend the same righteous energy towards the people closest to him.

It makes him more complex I think.

I still love him; he’s just not perfect.
He’s actually also really anxious and prone fits of dread/despair. Clark probably needs a therapist as much as Bruce does tbh.
ep. 1x13

Omg. I mean I never liked Whitney but I forgot this idiot went to a party thrown by middle aged dudes he just met and let them give him a tattoo with glowing ink in their basement!!!!

I...
Oh intrigue. Whitney is incidentally the first person in the series to call Clark Boy Scout
End of 1x13 was a very nice foreshadowing of the Lana/Lex relationship in later seasons.

But also home girl came up with a whole business plan to turn the talon into coffee shop book store, but offering to manage it in the summer was too much, she’s a solid fourteen in s1
Random Smallville thought:

I was thinking about a comment I saw adjacent to this thread about how Chloe’s fans are annoying and there’s probably a reason why men think Chloe’s fans are annoying that’s rooted in misogyny but I haven’t worked it out yet 😂
Chloe! She just called Clark Lana’s “surrogate boyfriend” and I—

Not a surrogate boyfriend 😂
How old is Lex supposed to be in this series?? Like he’s not much older than the gang but also he has nothing better to do than hang out with 15 year olds???
