The pandemic really demonstrates if your organization operates with a higher purpose.
There are great examples and not-so-great.
Good: Bauer has switched from manufacturing hockey equipment to producing medical shields. Bauer CEO says they already have orders for 100,000 units in Canada. Trying to reach hospitals, etc. in the U.S. now.
Good: @explorethousand is giving US-based bike couriers a free helmet, so they can stay safe while bringing supplies to those who need it. If you're a bike courier, contact them at [email protected] to receive your free helmet.
Bad: Organizers of the French Open opted to reschedule rather than cancel the 2020 tournament directly in conflict with the Laver Cup, and just one week after the conclusion of the US Open.
Good: Loblaw has bumped up frontline employee wages by $2 an hour, says the United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW Canada). The union represents 90,000 part-time and full time Loblaw employees.
Good: Tim Boyle, CEO of Columbia Sportswear Company, has cut his salary to $10,000 a year. Columbia retail employees will still receive regular pay while stores are closed until April 10. Will help keep almost 3,500 retail employees compensated during this time of uncertainty.
Good: Novartis will donate 130 million doses of malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat patients in the fight against the coronavirus. For free!
Good: Target announces pay raises, bonuses and new paid leave policy amid coronavirus.
Good: Bayer announced it is donating 3 million tablets of the drug #Resochin ( #chloroquine phosphate). New data, while limited, shows potential for the use of Resochin in treating patients with #COVID19 infection.
Good: Walmart committed $25 million to various organizations in an effort to slow the spread of the disease.
