Dear Albertans, before using the Babylon app @shandro & @jkenney advertise on behalf of @TELUSHealth, please be aware of the APPALLING Terms & Conditions, and Privacy Policy. I would not feel safe sharing my confidential health information through this app👇(1/6) #ABdocs4patients https://twitter.com/shandro/status/1240690333253500929
First, you should be aware that Babylon is a multinational conglomerate corporation, funded by foreign countries, most notably by Saudi Arabia who owns a large part of the app. There are alternative Canadian software available, but @shandro doesn't mention them (2/6)
The Babylon app records your video consultation and saves it on their servers. What was the last time you allowed a doctor to video record your office visit where you share your most confidential personal information? (3/6)
By using Babylon, you also agree to allow @babylonhealth software developers to use your "medical record", "transcripts", and "recordings of your consultations" however they see fit for developing and "improving" their for-profit application. (4/6)
By using Babylon, you are also agreeing to allow the company to share your personal health information with the members of their "corporate group" and other "partners". (5/6)
By using Babylon, you are agreeing that your personal data can be transferred outside of canada and "may be accessible by foreign government agencies". (6/6)
P.S. Now compare Babylon's policies with the Canadian owned and operated Maple app which delivers the same virtual care services. Why isn't @GoAHealth using Maple, or the other available Canadian platforms?
P.P.S. Excerpt from the Alberta PIPA. If Babylon is storing patient information outside of Canada, then it would appear they must disclose the country. Hopefully @TELUSHealth can provide further clarification. So far I haven't found that information. If anyone knows, let us know
You can follow @DrAmirPakdel.
