I really can't express how disappointed I am in @BraunStrowman ... I don't know that I expected anything different, but maybe that was just me being foolish. Wish that wasn't the case. Just... disappointed. Says it all but not enough.
Adam, I understand what you have expressed is your point that sometimes you have to accept that your current path isn't feasible and you have to pursue something bigger and/or more sensible. HOWEVER, you used yourself...
...so I'll pick apart your journey a bit. Yeah, I understand you're saying you had very little before you started wrestling. But why was wrestling an option for you? Because @TheMarkHenry saw you and thought, "he has the look Vince likes." And you took the OFFER.
The offer isn't there for everyone. Also, you benefited from being a freakishly large human being, which yes, you worked for in strongman. I'm not disputing that you busted your ass. But if Mark never showed up and saw you, was wrestling an option!? Unlikely.
But you're a big dude. You would have had multiple manual labor jobs to choose from. Add to that the fact that you're a white guy, whether you're top of the barrel in a suit on Wall Street or you're in overalls cutting a cord of wood every morning.
Not everyone has a Mark Henry spotting them and seeing their potential in some other field that can change their life and allow them to save as well as provide for their family.
We're also talking about people who may have been working manual labor and suffered a debilitating injury. Disability checks usually don't cover more than you NEED to survive month-to-month. And if you're off working on the side and seen while on disability? That check is GONE.
Your argument ignores so many real world options for so many people from all walks of life. For those who are able and for who it applies to, it's tremendous advice. But you attacked the average person. You attacked the below-average person. People who you should be a hero to...
So yes, I'm disappointed in you. I really hope you do some soul searching while we try to get through this shit because there are so many reasons (not excuses) and factors which play in to why someone's dream may not allow them to SAVE. I hope you can BE BETTER.
