i rushed to see my phone ring
each time you chatted with me
i couldn't help but smile with glee
i try yet it's impossible to hide
the butterflies I feel inside

i would get my hopes up about it
thinking about you and i until it hit
the cold harsh sound of reality
finally waking me up out of pity
