Redemption of Ham

(A Redenção de Cam)

The painting depicts a black grandmother, mulatta mother, white father and their  #quadroonchild, hence three generations of racial hypergamy through whitening.

How South America Tried To Scrape The Black Away

" #Blanqueamiento was enacted in national policies of many Latin American countries ( #Argentina, #Cuba, and #Brazil are major examples) at the turn of the 20th century.
In most cases, these policies promoted European immigration as a means to whiten the population.
The African presence in #Argentina is often suppressed

"Maria Lamadrid, an Afro-Argentine, recalls the day when her country's immigration authorities prevented her from boarding a plane for Panama, demanding she present them with a "real passport."
They told me, 'This can't be your passport. There are no blacks in #Argentina,' " she said of the 2001 incident.
The authorities at Ezeiza International Airport had no idea that the woman they detained for six hours is the president of Africa Vive, or "Africa Lives," a prominent black rights group in Buenos Aires.

The Afro-Salvadorans

“The Quauhquechollan Cloth is a 16th-century cloth painting of Nahua natives, and it includes what could be the very first African slave, still wearing his tribal costume, that arrived in El Salvador in 1528.”

“It is a terrible paradox, but those who believed that they could control and define Black people divested themselves of the power to control and define themselves.”

— James Baldwin “On Being ‘White’ … and Other Lies“
"To choose to be white is to avoid understanding the genocidal history which created the lie of whiteness. Thus, "being white is absolutely a moral choice"."
"You write in order to change the world. If you alter, even by a millimeter, the way people look at reality, then you can change it."

#Dominican dictator Rafael Leónidas #Trujillo Molina stood out as the only world leader willing to accept a significant number of those seeking asylum.
“He institutionalized a racist historical amnesia, creating the official label of “Indian” for Dominicans to distinguish them from Haitians, who were “black.””

— John J. McLaughlin
Known for powdering his own skin to appear whiter, Trujillo saw the exodus of Jewish people from Eastern Europe in the time between Hitler's rise to power and the closing of the borders as an opportunity to further his racial agenda.
At the conference, Trujillo agreed to accept up to 100,000 Jews into his country, hoping that they would procreate with Dominican women, who would then give birth to “lighter-skinned” babies.
His reasons were political, not humanitarian. Trujillo had massacred tens of thousands of Haitians over six days in October 1937, an event English speakers call the ‘parsley massacre’, Dominicans call el corte (the cutting) ...

..and Haitians remember as kout kout-a (the stabbing).

Regardless of name, it was a vicious attempt at the same sort of ethnic cleansing that was happening in Europe, and #Trujillo was in serious need of a positive public relations boost.

And, while they're bragging, and talking...

You say your'e from Spain, but the ass looks like it's from The Congo.
The following information is intended for self-hating Hispanics who think "The Blacks" should just "get over it" -- and for Afro-Hispanic children who experience the cruelty of racism: Your suspicions are true, and your RIGHTEOUS RAGE is understandable.

This is what's infuriating:Rafael Trujillo was himself part-Haitian!

According to Arnold M. Ludwig: He "fabriated his personal biograpy because of his shame at being part black and part Haitian".
It's absolutely evil.
