I’m going to say something in this thread probably to my own detriment that I know won’t be well received by many. Nevertheless I am going to do it because I think it’s a conversation that must be had.
As a precursor, I believe everyone is acting in good faith to overcome this virus in the best way possible. Particularly, I want to make a special point that I tremendously respect the work that the Governor and our Arkansas delegation is doing. We are all forever grateful.
Further, I acknowledge that I am not a doctor and that I may not be privy to any of the classified or confidential information.
Further, I acknowledge that the Chinese government may not have been forthcoming about its death today. I simply don’t know.
Further, I have accepted the fact that it’s most likely that most all of us have or have had this virus. And that because we are now simply testing more people that we will without doubt see a substantial increase in positive test cases.
As I said yesterday, notwithstanding the number of positive test results, the death toll worldwide is very low (yes I know this sounds harsh but this is true).
Some will say “this is early” but worldwide this has been going on for months.
Further, I acknowledge that this is a deep ethical question that no man or woman should have to face and I do not write this lightly.
Which all leads me to this: The economic damage to our economy is unprecedented. At a minimum, we need to rethink what we are doing. Collectively, what costs - in liberty, and yes, dollars - are we paying. And, from what we know about the death total, on balance, is it worth it?
Hey Bob! Good to hear from you. Hope all is well.
