Debenhams Wedding insurance purchased in May 2019 for May 2020 - an ambiguous clause interpreted on purchase as covering spread of contagious infection or disease amongst other reasons for paying out cancellations of wedding venue or reception ....
A confirmed position through an FAQ has conveniently alluded to the spread of a virus or contagious disease on the premises of the venue or reception. In effect moving an ambiguous goal post to a position of not paying out
I'm in a position where I'm 15k invested (my partner and my savings) with more to pay on an event I can't cancel without paying everything up and not being able to claim a penny back on basically a get out clause through ambiguous wording
My venue are the least accommodating, even a rescheduling would still mean full pay upfront and another full booking cost. My hands are being twisted in going for a wedding I want to cancel but financially can't and have no mechanism to claim even a portion back.
The government have closed nothing, advising does sweet FA. The venues aren't shut down, the churches aren't closed. No one can claim. I'm at my witts end with managing coronavirus at work and now at home.
