Me and Lucy will be tweeting our thoughts on Stardust for #bryantsbookclub as we read so stay tuned to this thread
This photo is sponsored by the fact that I was getting ready to read and she wouldnā€™t leave me alone so I decided to make it my thread picture. That is all
It might be because I just played like 20 games of solitaire but I did not process the song at all, so imma just read it again
Lucy would like to share her thoughts on the opening and she thinks itā€™s discussing impossible tasks, and thus, is describing how finding an honest woman is hard. How is Lucy so smart? šŸ˜
So the time period is sometime after the invention of cars. Thatā€™s pretty dope and good for having a rough idea of time
The one thing I do not like is how this author spells gray. It should not be spelled with an 'e' but that's how he spells it. I respect that it's just due to dialect in different regions but I will still be šŸ˜ at it
Lucy really wants to know what's lurking behind the walls, but hopefully she learns patience, as I'm sure she will find out as we keep reading
because i will forget this if the word is ever used again, a cudgel is a short, thick stick used as a weapon. this has been my daily vocab lesson
I am digging this mini history lesson that I am getting while the author establishes the time period for what he's gonna be talking about. I'm learning more from this than my college classes right now #bryantsbookclub
So Tommy and Alum really just fought, and now Alum is buying Tommy a drink? I do not understand this thought process but I'll vibe with it
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR A VOICE TO SOUND HAIRY? LUCY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND AND I AM RIGHT THERE WITH HER
"'Please,' begged Dunstan, "let me sleep. Please."

THIS IS SUCH A MOOD

#bryantsbookclub
this man already out here planning what he's spending his money on. i relate
I too would be attracted by the sound of gentle chiming. But someone once told me I was the human embodiment of a dog so like
woah what just happened to Dunstan when he got that flower? something ain't right, and i would consult with Lucy, but she left to go be with my parents
i will not laugh at the use of that word. i will not laugh at the use of that word. i will not laugh at the use of that word. i will not laugh at the use of that word. i will not laugh at the use of that word. i will not laugh at the use of that word. i will not laugh at the use-
as an ace person i am very uncomfy reading this scene, and am sharing this fact. like i'm not judging, it just isn't my style
Daisy is really refusing to eat because a man is ignoring her? Sounds a tad dramatic, especially considering she sobs when looking at the flower he gave her. Oh to be that dramatic #bryantsbookclub
WAIT IT GOES FROM THAT SCENE TO DUNSTAN AND DAISY GETTING MARRIED?!?! WHAT? THAT WAS QUICK #bryantsbookclub
"And there was, attached to the baby's blanket with a silver pin, a scrap of parchment, upon which was written in an elegant, if slightly archaic, handwriting the following words: Tristan Thorn"

It seems Dunstan and Daisy won't be happy much longer

#bryantsbookclub
i stay confused at all times
". . . all Tristan brought back from his relatives was a nasty case of the measles"

THIS POOR BOY. His sister literally got a cool af gift, and he got the joy of an infectious disease. Is that the downfall of being the older sibling?

#bryantsbookclub
so this cat literally had a blue kitten whose eyes changed color, but they didn't question it? they just gave it to their child no questions asked? sounds worthy of a parent of the year award šŸ˜‚

#bryantsbookclub
Louisa out here being the biggest bully of Tristan. I do not stan #bryantsbookclub
i love that in the middle of everything, neil gaiman literally stops and is like "BUT FIRST A DESCRIPTION"

#bryantsbookclub
can i say i'm grossed out by the fact that old men were checking this girl out? because i am. it's disgusting, and i will bring this topic up later when I review the book overall, but it's bothersome #bryantsbookclub
"Tristan would stare into the darkness of the sky until he thought of nothing at all, and then he would go back to his bed and sleep like a dead man"

oh to be able to have no worries and peacefully stare at the sky and then sleep. that is the dream

#bryantsbookclub
okay, i was judging them for wanting 10 cans of sardines, but mushroom ketchup? that just seems wrong. don't get me wrong, i love ketchup (heinz only), but this is just too far. also what classifies as ketchup during this time? #bryantsbookclub
we're really in a time before modern medicine if they're saying different kinds of medicines prevent illness #bryantsbookclub
"'For a kiss, and the pledge of your hand,' said Tristan, grandiloquently, 'I would bring you that fallen star.'"

Looks like we know how the opening piece comes into play. I also enjoy how before this, Tristan had long a speech of everything he would do for her #bryantsbookclub
This boy really does love Victoria huh? Love truly is a mysterious force in the universe #bryantsbookclub
I just realized his name is Tristran and not Tristan. I feel like this is my crowning achievement of my inability to read #bryantsbookclub
WHY ARE THERE TWO DIFFERENT EASTS? Itā€™s bad enough I have to draw a compass just to know where East is in general, BUT NOW THERE ARE TWO? #bryantsbookclub
ā€œI suppose you know about where he comes from. . .And now itā€™s time for him to go backā€

This reminds me of something else but I have no clue what. But anyways, I feel like this shows that he was never really welcome in the town; Tristran was always an outsider

#bryantsbookclub
ā€œAnd too ignorant to be scared, too young to be awed, Tristran Thorn passer beyond the fields we know . . . and into Faerieā€

Young and dumb and in love (unrequited to boot). What could possibly go wrong? From personal experience: a whole lot can go wrong

#bryantsbookclub
This man literally named his children the prefixes for 1-7? Grade A parenting #bryantsbookclub
Prediction: So the 81st Lord has a daughter but we donā€™t know what happened to her, so what if thatā€™s Tristranā€™s mom? Heā€™s going to find the falling star which is also the stone the 81st Lord threw, so Tristran is going to be the 82nd Lord of Stormhold 1/2 #bryantsbookclub
b/c heā€™ll be of Stormhold blood, and thatā€™s the only requirement that was given to take over as Lord 2/2 #bryantsbookclub
The first swear word being fuck and then to top it off, whoever said it lowered her voice so as to make it less audible is the best quote from the book. I donā€™t make the rules #bryantsbookclub
Ah yes, a fun reminder that the world does not revolve around us. Perhaps a good lesson as people refuse quarantine because they think theyā€™re invincible #bryantsbookclub
Love makes us mad and inspires the greatest works of art. No matter the kind of love, and no matter what stage of love it is, it inspires #bryantsbookclub
Poor Brevis. Just introduced and already turned into a goat #bryantsbookclub
Lucy would like me to share that she doesnā€™t like that Iā€™m paying attention to this book and not her šŸ˜
I have no clue why but I would literally end it all for this Star, whatever her name is #bryantsbookclub
I would like to take a moment to say that the people in Scaitheā€™s Ebb who built grog houses are my friends, because grog is what pirates made to prevent scurvy. I support this seaside town #bryantsbookclub
Itā€™s okay to realize you need help sometimes. And itā€™s even more okay to accept help when itā€™s offered. We all need help sometimes; itā€™s just a fact of life #bryantsbookclub
Damn I miss Primus. He seemed like a semi decent guy and now he be gone :/ #bryantsbookclub
Live reaction of me reading that Tristran and Yvaine kissed. THIS IS THE CONTENT I SO DESIRE. GOD TIER METHINKS #bryantsbookclub
I KNEW IT. I CALLED IT. I FEEL SO PROUD OF THIS FACT. I NEVER GUESS THINGS RIGHT #bryantsbookclub https://twitter.com/legayseas/status/1242803852153360384?s=21 https://twitter.com/legayseas/status/1242803852153360384
I just had to scroll through an excerpt from a random book to get to the epilogue??
Eye- thatā€™s how it ends? I need more. Like what the hell, I just. Wow. Uh I didnā€™t think this book would impact me like this but well here I am. This is quite the situation. Iā€™ll write up a review in the morning after I reflect #bryantsbookclub
