A lot of young people follow this account so I think it’s important for me not to speculate - we don’t know yet how universities will be asked to handle the cancellation of school exams this coming year but if you’re feeling like you’ve lost a chance to prove yourself, know this:
Lots of people who work in the university sector know full well that different ways of solving this problem will introduce different kinds of unfairness. Some of you are much more likely to have been under predicted relative to how you would have performed because of who you are
(this is particularly true if you are not white, but there are other groups it’s true for). It’s hard to say what form it will take until we know more but: the people who know this is unfair will fight the operation of this unfairness. You concentrate on staying safe and well.
This report is a little old now (it was written in Dec 2017) but if you work in higher education and you don’t know enough about this, page 20 is a good place to start (can recommend many other things to read for those interested): https://www.suttontrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Rules-of-the-Game.pdf
