Coronadiaries
Weds, March 18

I didn’t shower or wear pants all day, was on 4 hours of video meetings, and forgot to brush my teeth til 3pm.

Then ran 8.5mi and grabbed a 6 pack of Diet Dr. Pepper on the way home. I haven’t had soda in years idk what got into me
My girlfriend is legitimately angry at me for bringing soda into the apartment because we both are generally very anti soft drinks
On the other hand, my team at work is part of herculean effort to identify and actively support some of the most incredible COVID-19 response communities on FB and man this work is energizing (and exhausting)

Feeling very grateful to be doing what I’m doing in life right now
Herculean is a weird word to use here. I mean that in the sense that everyone is working extremely hard, prioritizing ruthlessly and collaborating beautifully and with no ego. I hope we are doing a good job.

My entire day has been clouded by a fog of melancholy. My motivation to do anything at all has been muted at best, and I've been swimming in guilt for a lack of productivity.
I couldn't imagine going through days like this without Charlotte. https://twitter.com/ankitshah/status/1241956973811134464
I also couldn't imagine working with a more supportive, loving team of people who show up day after day for one another. Independent of today's weird mood, I've been leaning on this gift that the team created for a bunch of us in the trenches of COVID-19 response work.
I'm generally far too proud to say something like this—especially to a colleague that raises the bar literally every single day—but knowing that I *could* say this and that it would land on listening ears is a luxury beyond measure.

Video calls with friends or colleagues I haven't spoken to since quarantine began don't even start with small talk about quarantine, COVID, "hope you're well during these strange times," etc

We just jump right in. New normal getting real...normal.

Washed all the dishes immediately after dinner. Going to bed with a clean kitchen. Something about this feels next level.

First half of May

Small moments of normalcy over the last few weeks.

Nature. Food. Girlfriend. Sun. Road. Dog.

Rituals punctuate the days. They provide a rhythm of sanity, a normal to return to, moments between the blur.

The one I love the most: morning quiet.

Put something out into the world that I’m really proud of https://twitter.com/ankitshah/status/1263129158386765824?s=21

Feeling so good about it that I put a button down shirt on and took some selfies.

(1/4) My girlfriend was doing workout this morning. I did not realize it was a Zoom workout. Something very bad happened. https://twitter.com/robin_daniels/status/1264239579025924102
(2/4) I just finished my own workout, so I undressed. On the way to the shower, I saw her in the bedroom doing some glute workout and yelled out, "Yeah girl! Work that butt!" Then, I ran in, slapped her butt in the middle of her workout, and went to the shower.
(3/4) As I'm running to the shower, I hear from her computer via Zoom...

"Looked like a great massage, Charlotte!"

I literally just like melt. *Was that just on camera?*

I run back to the bedroom, make sure to stay out of the video, and peek to see what was in frame...
Yup. My bent over ass and celebratory girlfriend ass-slapping were all in full. ass. view.

...of my girlfriend's old boss, his wife (the virtual workout class teacher), and all of her students on Zoom. 🤦🏽‍♂️

@robin_daniels @charlilley I will never forget this (4/4)
Girlfriend: “Why would you post that on Twitter? Like, is this some way of processing your shame or something?”

Me: Precisely.
