Another EXCITING announcement? Well, now is definitely the time to celebrate, to support and to embrace all triumphs no matter how big or small. And these Small Presses have triumphed BIG TIME, as we reveal the Regional Winners of the British Book Awards Small Press of the Year:
. @commapress Press is the North England regional winner! One thing we celebrate is that they gave voice to many neglected overseas and regional British writers...
. @FireflyPress is the Wales winner and one of four children’s specialists here! They were brilliant at building momentum in backlist and rights sales!
. @JacarandaBooks is one of the London co-winners, they were championing diversity in publishing long before it became a mainstream concern, and attracted a lot of attention for its TwentyIn2020 initiative for black British authors!
. @LilliputPress, Ireland’s winner, is modest about its significant impact on Ireland’s culture over 35 years, adding a book a month to its backlist of more than 500 titles!!
At @OtterBarryBooks, the Midlands category winner, sales of inclusive picture, information and poetry books jumped by 25%...
. @ReallyDecent, the South-west England winner, has built a list of around 250 titles since launching eight years ago, and secured some major new trade accounts and partnerships in 2019... indeed, really decent!
. @sandstonepress is the Scotland winner, AND also won @Saltire_Society Scottish Publisher of the Year last year!
. @septemberbooks, the East and South-east England winner, has managed to establish a distinctive brand and voice in just four years in business...
Last, but never least, is @TinyOwl_Books, London co-winner, and another passionate supporter of under-represented BAME voices!
Well done to the incredible regional winners, the small presses who were shortlisted, and everyone who entered! Let's show some support for this brilliant bunch, see more here: https://www.thebookseller.com/news/british-book-awards-small-press-winners-revealed-1195860
