So, I'm organised, braced and already self-isolating due to my severe health issues. I've got my head around the next 12+ weeks. If you're in the same situation, follow me and I'll follow back. We'll keep each other going!
#HighRiskCovid19 #highriskcovid #coronavirus #covid19
#HighRiskCovid19 #highriskcovid #coronavirus #covid19
I'll keep posting what I'm doing to keep motivated and as healthy as I can on this thread. It won't be easy but I know I'm not alone. Many of us are in this situation. Some far worse off than me. Us Brits are a strong breed. This isn't going to break us! A bit about me:
I’m 53 and for 40+ years have had #BehcetsDisease #arthritis #ulcerativecolitis. I need
#immunosuppressant drugs to stop my body fighting itself + am doing what I can to avoid #COVIDー19 #SocialDistancingNow but need everyone to #WashYourHands
and be careful
#HighRiskCovid19
#immunosuppressant drugs to stop my body fighting itself + am doing what I can to avoid #COVIDー19 #SocialDistancingNow but need everyone to #WashYourHands

I'm currently making a list of things I'm going to do in the next 12 weeks to keep going. I'll need lots of activities and projects, and it will be vital for me (personally) to keep a little structure to my days or I'll end up doing nothing, watching box sets all day and eating!
This won't do my physical or mental health any good at all. The MOST important thing at times like this is to take care of YOURSELF, as well as others, so if I see any good posts on what people are doing I'll share them.
First thing planned - every morning I'll start the day with bed yoga. I can't do physical keep fit or anything weight bearing, but I can do stretches + try to keep my joints mobile. This will be essential for the arthritis, and to keep those pheromones going for my mental health!
So, I'm going to add all the important info I've seen to this thread which may help those in (or those who know someone in) the #HighRiskCovid19 #shielding group. Starting with this - 'Register to get coronavirus support as an extremely vulnerable person.' https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable
Once you've registered on the Govt #ExtremelyVulnerablePerson site, time to think about getting food and essentials. Many of us have been #isolating #lockdown for couple of weeks + food getting low. Supermarkets currently struggling with demand but priority given to #atrisk/...
with online shopping by @sainsburys. You MUST be registered on the Govt site 1st, but eventually I hope I'll be able to access slots. They're currently booked up weeks in advance! /...
Other supermarkets are increasing their online shopping - recruiting extra staff/drivers/increasing web capacity. It's going to take time, and we can only hope they'll be able to free up delivery slots as more and more people have to do online shopping as we #lockdown/...
So, what to do if you can't get out or access online shopping. Some of us with #HighRiskCovid19 have been #LockedDown for 2 weeks already and running out of food ... Some suggestions:-
- check out Facebook - your local community pages - local chat/traffic/buy and sell - many /...

are volunteering help, mobilising efforts to support the vulnerable in their community. Often these are linked to local community centre/GP surgery/Rotary and other local mutual aid groups so worth checking them out too.

- See if you have a local milkman! I've registered /...
with @milk_and_more - worth checking to see if they offer deliveries in your area. They deliver milk and all manner of essentials to your door. I know it might cost a little more, but these are desperate times, and they provide an invaluable option for those who are isolating.
I understand some people are having problems registering with the Govt #HighRiskCovid19 site if they don't have existing health issues but are still classed as vulnerable. This mainly applies to the Over 70's, the most vital group to protect!! .../ https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable
I've flagged this with my local MP. If you're unable to register as an Over 70's (or on behalf of someone you know) please flag this with your/their MP!! Anyone 70 or older are deemed extremely vulnerable #HighRiskCovid19 and should be #shielded, regardless of medical conditions!
Some people are managing to get food deliveries from Amazon Prime. I don't want to get into the ethics of the company, but these are desperate times, and if you're desperate for food it may be worth seeing if they deliver in your area?

In addition to the info I've posted above, here's a couple of threads from @sainsburys advising what to do to access online deliveries if you're #HighRiskCovid19 #shielding #highrisk #vulnerable groups. https://twitter.com/sainsburys/status/1243470594076745728?s=20
UPDATE:
AT LAST I have a @sainsburys #fooddelivery slot for next Friday! I'm adding the thread with how I managed it here in my pinned tweet. 1/2 https://twitter.com/Bluestockingmum/status/1246737821194485760?s=20

Shout if you're still having problems getting #food or #urgent #essentials for you or a loved one. I might not have all the answers, but I can make a lot of noise, and will try to help find someone who can help! #highriskcovid #shielding 2/2
If you, or someone you know are unable to get on the Govt #ExtremelyVulnerable #highriskCovid19 register, + can't access online food shopping and essentials, + starting to run out/need help, here's a list of #MutualAid Groups in London areas:

IMPORTANT
- Coming up - a long thread about being in the #ExtremelyVulnerable #shielding group in WALES and how to access shopping and support following this: https://twitter.com/Bluestockingmum/status/1249840240665206784?s=20

So, I’ve looked into how to access priority online shopping through supermarkets in Wales. In England it’s patchy at best, and (ever so) slightly complicated to navigate to secure the elusive slots! In Wales, it’s easier. That’s because priority online shopping doesn’t exist!!/..
The Welsh Department of Health and Social Care have not negotiated with supermarkets to provide online shopping facilities. Instead, they’re offering the most vulnerable a weekly food package which is delivered to those who are shielding. /...
I’ve gone through here step by step information on how to get what you’re entitled to. If you read through the links in order, it may guide you in where to go: /...
Start here – a brief overview from your @WelshGovernment on support you can get being a #extremelyvulnerable person (s): https://gov.wales/get-coronavirus-support-extremely-vulnerable-person
With no online form to register with @WelshGovernment as there is in England, eligibility for #extremelyvulnerable #shielding people comes SOLELY from the letter sent to all those who fall into the defined medical grounds outlined here: /... https://gov.wales/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-people-defined-on-medical-grounds-as-extremely-vulnerable-from-coronavirus-covid-19-html#section-38728
So, THE letter is important. You need to check and find if you if it has been received. Below is the link explaining the letter, and what it means. They should have been sent to you by 5th April. If you haven’t received it and believe you should be on the register /...
you need to contact your doctor or the consultants/specialist NHS trust where you receive treatment and let them know you’ve not had one and ask for one to be sent. /... https://gov.wales/cmo-letter-extremely-vulnerable-people-support-explained
The letter, if you’ve received it, should also tell you how to claim for support. Most important thing to note is if you're on the Welsh Govt register you're entitled to a FOOD BOX delivery once a week (started on 5th April!!) /...
In addition, here is a REALLY useful and important page for you which gives what the supermarkets (listed by company with their opening hours) and what they are doing to help those most vulnerable in Wales, and also loads of links for organisations who can help if you need it/..
Bookmark to keep safe, as it’s worth knowing there is other help out there if you need it: /… https://seneddresearch.blog/2020/03/17/coronavirus-constituency-support/#food
And finally, a list of voluntary sectors who are offering help and support for those in the #extremelyvulnerable #shielding groups in Wales. These can help with food, getting prescriptions, home care, bills etc. Simply type in your area/postcode: /...

And another, from Third Sector Support, Wales. https://thirdsectorsupport.wales/contact/
So, what to do if you find you’re not in the extremely vulnerable list, and can’t get help?
I can’t express how important it is, but the other people you MUST contact, and the BEST people who can help get the help you need is /...

Ring/write/email and Tweet your Local MP’s and Councils. You may need to do ALL of this, but do whatever you can + DON’T give up! Sometimes you have to shout loud. If you tweet them tag me in on your posts and I'll shout and retweet on your behalf. I can shout very loud!! /...
I know there’s a lot to look at here but if you follow the thread step by step it should make sense. And don’t despair. I’ve just found this link from Welsh press – /... https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/politics/welsh-government-supermarket-deliveries-coronavirus-18061579
Apparently, there’s been a bit of backlash from people in Wales as they’re not getting the same help as those in England! The Welsh Government have acknowledged this so if I see any updates, I’ll update.
I hope the above helps. Stay safe and warm wishes.
Phew! END OF THREAD.
