My friend from HK sent me a pic of the plant I bought her this time last year when I was visiting and it cheered me up so I’m going to post a pic a day of my plants to cheer up this timeline 💚🌿🌱Feel free to join in. I can also count how many I have too 🤣 Friend’s plant today
Here’s a pic of when I bought it for her - so tiny!
And here’s my own pennywort, which has finally recovered from a bug infestation and is getting bigger now, and spreading fast!
Day 2: the turn of the pilea. Any tips on growing these? My tiny one has stayed this size for years and the big one started out full and always end up skinny and lanky. Do plants end up looking like their owners, just like dogs?! 🌿🌱💚
Today, the lovely oxalis triangularis, with new shoots and the pot that has one leaf has a flower stem coming up too! 🌸
Date palms, free plants, grown from seeds after eating fresh dates. I just washed the seeds and chucked them in the soil 🌱
I forgot to post at the weekend so have two today: orchid and sansevieria. I’m a bit embarrassed about the sansevieria that @sabineschutte gave me. Impossible to kill, but I always like a challenge 🤣 It has lovely new growth but the outer leaves weren’t happy or healthy 🌿
Moved sansevieria this morning to the balcony door so that it gets some suba. I think the spot in the hallway was too dark for it.
My sophora prostrata tree today. Love the zigzag branches
Copper spoon today 🧡 #postaplantaday
#postaplantaday love the purple-wine tips/edges of the senecio crassussimus 💜
Lippie on today as it’s Friday 💄(yes, losing track of the days!) It gets its name from the blooms, which resemble lipsticks, but too early for any flowers yet. Aeschynanthus radicans; lipstick vine - my sis grew this from a cutting from her mama plant 💚 Like red tinge on leaves
Today the humble spider plant and go-to plant for beginners as apparently it is difficult to kill. Try telling that to all my dead plants 🤣 Any tips? Cuttings from one of the bell ringers. Do you like my pots? Do they look like them?! #crazypineapplelady 🍍 #postaplantaday
#postaplantaday today, the 1970s Busy Lizzie, Impatiens walleriana. I grew them from seed but this is the only one that survived the winter. Brought them in from the balcony over Christmas as it was too cold out there. Will try again and see if I can take a cutting or two too 🌱
Morning! The bunny ears cactus🐰, the opuntia microdasys. I know to water it when her ears droop a little or as I describe it, depressed ears 🤣 She’s in a vintage diner sugar bowl, bought from #NYC @FishsEddyNYC - of course I bought it because of the 🍍- can you spot it?
#postaplantaday the only fern I can grow, the button fern, Pellaea rotundifolia
#postaplantaday the Variegated jade plant/money plant; crassula ovata ‘Hummel’s Sunset’ f. Variegata
#postaplantaday Late today as I had a day of meetings! String of hearts or Ceropegia woodii - and some new leaves 🌱 It’s grown very long since I got her as a gift for my birthday in September. Do you like the pot too? 😂
#postaplantaday Peperomia obtusifolia, grown from 2 leaf cuttings my sister gave me a couple of years ago. The lower leaf with water stain in the second picture is the original leaf 🌿
#postaplantaday my gardenia. The new leaves are luminescent lime 🌱💚 And fingers crossed these are flower buds 🤞🏻 I love the scent of these flowers.
#postaplantaday Another impossible-to-kill plant which I manage very well 🤣 #zzplant Zamioculcas zamiifolia. Too scared to kill it so don’t water it but wilting! Given it a good old drink 💦 - there’s new shoots so there’s hope! Also doesn’t look like anyone else’s zz plant!
Today, baby jade plant/money plant; crassula ovata grown from fallen leaves from the mother plant. And planted in chai tea cups, souvenirs from a conference dinner in Hyderabad, India 😍
The asparagus fern for today’s #postaplantaday, which isn’t a fern, hence why I can keep it alive! It has lost a lot of its bushy-ness and has grown lanky and thin but it continues to grow and likes where it is so I’m not moving it.
Today’s #postaplantaday since these won’t last/be in bloom forever and my houseplants will (I hope! 😂🤞🏻) is the snakeshead fritillary on the #balconygarden https://twitter.com/soshanau/status/1248170369309081605?s=21 https://twitter.com/soshanau/status/1248170369309081605
#postaplantaday is the narcissus baby moon on the #balconygarden since it’s in bloom at the moment - cute as a button (and the same size!) Smells divine!
#postaplantaday epiphyllum cutting from my Mum. It has new growth/leaves. Not sure if the variety but Mum has had white flowers from this cactus m, which came out at night! I remember staying up at night to watch it bloom! Can’t get good pic of it without showing the messy flat!
New addition to living room, from balcony garden as it had planted itself in a rogue pot! Saxifraga stolonifera or strawberry begonia, called that since it likes to propagate via runners, like strawberries #postaplantaday! another lovely vintage pot with @thegentleauthor books
