Now that the @cityofcalgary has declared a state of emergency about #COVID19 and the Federal Government has closed borders and airports we are in a new era of #SocialDistancing

Here are some things you can do to help out your friends and neighbours
If you've already started #SocialDistancing that doesn't mean you have to stop electronic contact with people.

We are privileged to live in a time with digital connectivity and the ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, any time! Phone, email, or video call some one you love
Heck! You could even write a letter if you're feeling old fashioned
The next thing you can do is think about someone more vulnerable than you, and find a way to help them. The elderly, immune-comprimised, or someone who has to be under strict quarantine.

Pick up groceries, run an errand or two, or make them a card
If you find one small way to make someone's life better and easier, that is one more piece of hope and love in the world.

You might say "But it's so small, what's the difference?"
While it might feel inconsequential in this global pandemic, any amount of love and hope that we can build in the world is worth it.

Next, think about our friends and neighbours who are working on the front lines, people who are risking infection themselves to help others
Is there a way that you can offer help, love, and support to people who are working hard to bring this global pandemic to an end?

You might not be a doctor, or a nurse, or a health care worker, but you can reach out to one you know and take something else off their plate
Finally, remember that we are all in this together, that none of us have experienced this before, and that we are all fighting the same fight.

Act with love, empathy, and kindness to those around you.
#COVID19 is very contagious, but so is a smile
