Things I've learned while staying home due to #COVID19:
- Stocking up on groceries didn't magically make me a good cook
- I'm *still* bad at completing household chores
- It is possible to watch too much #GilmoreGirls
Day two:
- Being an introverted only child, who was already WFH full time really set me up for success here
- any hour can be 'Happy Hour'
- Even under the circumstances, I still can't bring myself to watch the #GilmoreGirls revival
Day three:
- I can sit on my couch for a ~really~ long time.
Day four:
- Fresh laundry is a true joy
- I would much rather lay around in said fresh laundry than fold it and put it away like an adult
Day five:
- I fear that I am nearing the end of the internet
Day six:
- No matter how much food I have in the fridge, I will still eat cheese, crackers and grapes like it’s a meal
- Things that should take me a few hours are taking all dang day
- Washing my hair = dressing up
Day seven:
- Am I supposed to be baking?
Day eight:
- Law and Order: SVU maybe wasn't the best show to binge😬( @katherineesingh)
Day nine:
- Things are starting to get tense between me and (my Amazon) Alexa
Day 10:
- Teaching myself to French braid my hair is my biggest (and most useful) accomplishment in these times.
Day 11:
- Thanks to IG challenges, I’ve learned I am (finally) immune to peer pressure...or I just really, really don’t want to workout on camera
- Now feels like the right time to try every. single. meal kit.
Day 12:
- The dishes NEVER end
Day 13:
- The reviews about #TigerKing have not been exaggerated. It 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 wild.
- On a related note, I now have this song stuck in my head, replaced with the lyric “I’m feeling Joe Exotic”
Day 14: Does ‘the weekend’ even matter anymore?
Day 15: I just don't wanna
Day 16: Between FaceTime, Zoom, Facebook video chats and a growing number of iMessage and WhatsApp groups, is #COVID19 actually making me more social than I was before? 😶
Day 17: Hi, my name is Ishani and I’m addicted to the Scrabble app
Day 18: 10°C and saw at least six people strolling around #Toronto in shorts—sooooo despite everything, I guess some things never change.
Day 19: While everyone is doing IG fitness challenges, I'm over here trying to see how many days I can go without washing my hair.
Day 20: According to items in my numerous online shopping carts, I am redoing my entire apartment...and have also won some sort of lottery?
Day 21: All this hand washing is starting to make arms look ombré
Day 22: I have gone full plant lady
Day 23: Managed to somehow mess up grilled cheese.
Day 24: I really underestimated Dollarama
Day 25: One of my best friends ( @asinh90) works in supply chain management for local hospitals and let 👏🏾 me 👏🏾 tell 👏🏾 you, she is an absolute rockstar, working wild hours and dealing with unprecedented circumstances. I am so thankful for—and frankly in awe of—her and her team.
Day 26: Meet my quarantine crew
Day 27: Should I attempt to thread my own eyebrows???
Day 28: It’s becoming really clear which beauty practices I *actually* do for myself (skincare routine, perfume) and which ones I do mostly for others (washing my hair every other day, makeup, my eyebrows).
Day 29: I seem to be staying up real late for no apparent reason
Day 30: Was just one of those days
Day 31:
Day 32: Realized as someone who used to love a quiet night in, relished when plans got cancelled and thoroughly enjoyed spending way too much time on the couch — I am now *stuck* in my comfort zone. 😬😬😬
Day 33: Set my alarm for the first time in more than a month. It was so I could order cinammon buns.
Day 34: My work life, social life and personal life have all become one big blended mess
Day 35: Watching these babies grow is really helping to give time meaning these days 🌱
Day 36: Tasks that used to take me 20 minutes now take me all 👏🏾 dang 👏🏾 day
Day 37: I may have set a new record for least number of steps taken in a day
Day 38: Meet my beanie babies 🌱
Day 39: I somehow thought that sitting on the couch for a month would make me capable of carrying a 58L (40lb) bag of gardening soil home. I was (extremely) mistaken.
Day 40-41: Were meant to be in Chicago to commemorate the anniversary of my mum’s passing. Instead, they were spent on Zoom. 💕
Day 42: Zoom calls are great, but the debriefs after are 🔥 🔥 🔥
Day 43: FaceTime calls with me now include a complimentary (and unsolicited) tour of my plants 🤷🏾‍♀️
Day 44: *Still* not baking
Day 45: Pretty sure my upper back is just one giant knot at this point
Day 46: The biggest thing being in quarantine has taught me is patience...and how I don’t have enough of it
Day 47: TBH, didn't expect this thread to go on this long 😶
Day 48: Slowly creating my new happy place
Day 49: Watched five seasons of 'Younger' in two days...and I don't even like the show.
Day 50: I am apparently incapable of going for a walk and *not* buying plants
Day 51: My body is not built to carry a week's worth of groceries at a time.
Day 52: I am having daily internal debates about whether or not it would be OK to visit Poppa Nath in Ottawa. I still haven't found an answer that feels right.
Day 53: Went for a walk. Came home with a tree? That Day 50 realization was no joke
Day 54: Everything takes so much effort.
Day 55:
Day 56: It snowed. In May.
Day 57: Did absolutely nothing on my to-do list. Nothing.
Day 58: *Still* refusing to download Tik Tok (for the sake of my already out-of-control screen time), but forever grateful to the friends who send me the hits
Day 59: The day my building ran out of hot water 🥶 (update: it’s back now)
Day 60: Finally washed the "hand-wash only" items that I have been planning to "get to" since Day 1 of quarantine. Even though it took me 60 days, this still feels like a major accomplishment.
Day 61: So many phone calls, group messages and Zoom chats and I still don't have a good answer for "How are you doing?"
Day 62: I never thought this would happen, but I'm getting tired of watching TV...
Day 63: ☀️ Balcony update ☀️
(ft the non-stop construction noise that has become the soundtrack to my life)
Day 64: Did my full weekly grocery haul. Ate a McCain’s double chocolate cream pie for dinner.
Day 65: Did the most chaotic spring cleaning of my entire life.
Day 66: Went for a walk. Rewarded myself with a dinner of Brie and binging #KillingEve Season 3 in a single sitting.
Day 67: Watched two straight hours of ocean life videos
Day 68: Stocked up on (a lot of) rosé
