I’ve been reading Leo Lionni’s Frederick to my kids for years.

The eponymous Frederick is a field mouse who lazes around while his compatriots gather seeds and nuts and corn for winter. “I gather the sun rays for the cold dark winter days” he claims...
…I’m clearly a type-A, planning-focused, seed-gathering field mouse. I always thought Frederick was running a scam.

Like, great, you’re an ”artist”, but what’s your day job, mouse?

…And then my partner & I found ourselves working from home with a 4 year old & 18 month old...
…In light of #COVID19, I finally get that artsy mouse.

Gathering sunlight, colors & words is hard work! #SocialDistancing requires more than food, diapers, and conference calls.

What can I do to give my kids painting, poetry and music? (h/t John Adams)...
…I see you, mouse.

I’m trying. We’re hiking, making art, baking treats, writing fun goals, taking long tricycle rides through the neighborhood.

And reading Frederick.
