@AriLennox is the prime example of a new talented Rnb/Soul vocalist whom you cant help but be amazed. Her voice is unique, rich in tonality and melodies, excellent belts, range, enounciation and clarity. Alongside her songwriting skills and breathing the words to life. (THREAD)
The year was 2013. And around this time, Ari Lennox was releasing music on the internet, among these was a mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and around the region of her hometown of Washington D.C, people began to pick up on her singing talent, and her artistry.
Being a solid body of work, it showed her vocal and songwriting progress and her versatility in genres like Motown, country and classic rnb/soul. And among my favorites is Precious Flower, which was a country guitar, but her vocals is what really stole the show.
Another one of my favorites is Random Heartbreaks. Giving me some Janelle Monae vibes, but in Ari Lennox fashion. Very lo-fi 70s-80s funky yet futuristic and soulful. And with beautiful beautiful melodies.
And with Moving, Ari speaks of the the hopes of becoming successful and of her talent getting her somewhere, and these words will soon ring true...with very 50s soul vibes, channelling bits of Minnie Ripperton and Ella Fitzgerald.
Following up the release of 5 Finger Discount, she released her debut EP Ariography. Short but boy did she pack a punch. And alongside it, came the 2013 version of LA LA LA LA. And a signature song of hers since then. Take a listen
And alongside one of my favorite songs off the EP, Cascades. With a rather interesting production, youre entranced from the jump before the spell kicks into your bloodstream by the vocals she places into this song.
And the Outro is just chefs kiss. The message and the way the aetherial production and the eventual drums kick in with the melodies she places. Everything about this song is perfect.
In 2014, Ari released her independent single, Bound. In which here, the pounding chorus, the vocals, the belting and the choir she made all comes crashing down like rain. And in this moment, a icon was about to rise...
A rapper named Omen caught wind of her and had her feature on his 2015 album Elephant Eyes, on a track named "Sweat it Out." And with the way she vocally projected into his song on the hook, its no wonder why-
-Omen was a part of J Cole's Dreamville records, and introduced him and the Dreamville team to Ari and her music. Impressed with her talent, she became the first woman to be signed to Dreamville in Dec 8, 2015.
Dec 8, 2015: Dreamville Records released Revenge of the Dreamers II: which peaked at #24 on Billboard. And alongside this album was the song "Backseat" featuring Ari and Cozz.
October 21, 2016: Ari released her label EP titled "Pho", which includes a remake of La La La La and Backseat, alongside 5 new tracks. https://music.apple.com/us/album/pho/1440893030
December 9, 2016: JCole released his studio Album 4 Your Eyez Only. And on one of the songs, Ari Lennox was featured on "Change", which she offered vocals on a conscious hip hop song. Quite a beautiful track really, from both Jermaine and Ari. https://music.apple.com/us/album/change/1440934458?i=1440934971
It was time for her debut studio album and in September 5, 2018, she released her lead single named Whipped Cream, which is one of my personal favorite songs. Funky neosoul, her complementary vocals and her vocal range with even a WHISTLE! The Live version tho>>>
Ari Lennox also appeared on The Creed II OST with "Shea Butter Baby" ft JCole. The movie netted $214M at the box office.

This song explores a mixture of trap/rnb with a slight touch of tropical influence. And one of my favorite songs as well. Look how she ate that up
The album received universal acclaim and peaked at 67 on Billboard 200 alongside various accolades
July 5, 2019: Dreamville Records released Revenge of the Dreamers 3. It sold 115k units and topped Billboard 200, alongside critical acclaim
The deluxe version added her song Bussit, released on January 13, 2020. This song is one of my favorite and very sexy af, sultry and smooth https://music.apple.com/us/album/bussit/1494424362?i=1494424372
