HAI! Covid thread. Not had test bc NHS have stopped testing. I have severe asthma so high risk, so have to monitor & be prepared-am v good re listening to my body & comparing viruses. I had lots of main & underlying symptoms. 3 Drs diagnosed me from following list /1
This what i had & when so that you can compare. Not everyone gets ALL the symptoms. I'll give as much detail as poss. I've added % of patients reporting same in china:
- started w Mild sore throat (14%)
- Sharp stabbing stomach pains (50% in a small sample)
/2
- similar sharp stabbing pain, neuralgia type headache, dizziness & seeing halos round things (%unknown)
- Dry cough. There IS a type of mucous, but it's dry & thick
- Hot burning pain/sensation in chest that starts to slide down into bronchiols
- Shortness of breath
/3
The last three are pretty much synonymous with all symptomatic cases. The next i have no data on:
- Reduced lung capacity and shortness of breath - Asthmatics if you don't have one get peak flow meter to monitor
- tightness in chest like normal wheezing
- confusion, delirium /4
- Memory loss & random sort of black hole blindness; not being able to read properly, not seeing things in front of me. Forgetting stuff (ok, i have this all time).
- Anxiety type, falling sensation, slight panic. Have heard from others same (Shake self to get back to earth) /5
NB. Temp is SLIGHT elevation, by 1/2 degrees. if you don't have temp doesn't mean you're not infected. The cough is key.
Advice for asthmatics: your salbutamol won't work for more than 10 mins. Is terrifying but bug is much easier than worst asthma attack you've had. /6
You've trained for this. Buy nebuliser from ebay & order liquid salbutamol from GP. That has effectiveness build up & can give you 1hr relief-really takes the edge off. Avoid wheat, dairy, sugar-all mucous exacerbating stuff. Monitor peak flow-if falls below 200, call 999. /7
Don't just rock up to A&E (as i would normally) as they have special C19 protocol.
Wear warm scarf round top chest at all times to keep all warm & moving. The cough is USELESS. Really unproductive, so avoid doing it as just exhausting
/8
Took me about 4-5 days from cough to now,1st day i'm feeling better. Still dizzy spells & delirium. This virus attacks everything in your body & can cause liver damage (ref on way). Mucous starts to come up when you're getting better, hurrah! /9
DO NOT TAKE IBUPROFEN. Evidence to suggest contraindication severe negative impact (ref to follow). Lots of liquids, hot drinks food, if you can. Don't be a hero. Call 999 if you go downhill. You can get through it, it's not horrendous. <3

Other things to consider:
it goes away & comes back. The cough is better in morning. Mine comes back at approx 2/3pm & wheezing becomes worse. You feel better & suddenly worse again & better again. Felt better today & just had huge dizzy spell. Don't take anything for granted /14
Is like no other virus i've had. Is not as bad as bronchitis 2yrs ago, but is v different. it feels like hot creature crawling thru your body causing havoc. It's not all that bad tho. Don't panic, stay hydrated, keep well, wash your hands. #COVID19 #coronavirus /15-end of thread
UPDATE: It has moved into other lung today. On one hand annoying but predictable. O other hand virus is a lot weaker than it was so immune system is definitely working well. HURRAH.
And I never thought I'd say this but bronchial scarring FTW, that lured the Covid Creature into one lung first and not letting it spread into both. Might well be the thing that stopped my respiratory system from being overwhelmed.
Chest part of infection started in right hand lung. White hot gently (!) shooting type of pain w it. Shooting went in direction from top to bottom & when clearing, turned opposite. Now started across right>left so def headed that way. This virus is like a creature burrowing thru.
Today more of a cough & I have gunk coming up when I cough. This is amazing. RIGHT *TMI* but if you want detail, then you need to deal. The gunk has sweet taste. This usually means for me with viruses the infection is coming out. It get the same with viral sinus infection.
Not taking anything for granted though as this thing comes in waves & there's still opportunity for this to fuck me over. I'm now officially a week since coughing began but is about 2wks since stomach pain began & 2 days more since scratchy throat. Been quarantine for 1wk. Meep.
Sense of smell has just come back. Had this report from other sufferers that smell and taste had gone. I didn't realise smell had gone til it just came back right now. Wow!
But here we go again.... chest pain is back in the original place. Wow. This thing isn’t going away fast.
Today still a bit wheezy & it gets a bit worse around 2-3pm for rest of day. Such very opposite experience from other chest infections, where you start off wheezy & it gets better thru the day. A few more high abdominal stabbing pains but not as bad. Am hoping is on way out! Yay!
OK!! My colleague has tested positive which means I definitely have it. Our symptoms are identical. And I probably infected them. Brill. What a team player I am!!! Good news: significantly less wheezy today & been gardening. Stay well everyone. And please ask me questions anytime
Like **literally** can set my watch by this virus. 3pm I start wheezing heavily again. Every day. today I started wheezing and getting tight in the chest again for the first time today, checked the clock: 15:10. This bug is absolutely fascinating.
Ok am bit of a hippy. Managed to do gentle yoga practice this arvo w soundtrack of @jorisvoorn playing AMAZING fundraiser set. Stretched into Camel, my chest snapped inside & I knew that was last of the virus. Cough straight back & clearing out effectively now. Made me realise...
...as w all heart opening asana that give you feels & as prev tweets this virus is ALIVE. It has personality. What it doesn't have, that we have, is humanity. If we learn anything from this is we must shift to community, care & love. It's the only way we will survive as a species
And seriously haven't breathed this well in 3 weeks. Lung capacity nearly back. Peak flow 490 (only 60 to go). Wow!

I guess tomorrow I'll be able to genuinely sing 'Last Night a DJ Saved my Life.' 😁

Thanks so much for all RTs on this thread helping to get info spread widely💖
God it won't go without a fight. Today was another dip. The way the virus goes and comes back is incredible. My breathing is still excellent from yesterday but as it leaves it is now giving me the most horrendous muscle pain and weakness. Really feeling run over again.
The waves of wellness then illness cannot be overstated. It starts 1 day on 1 day off & that frequency expands. I'm now 2 good days to then 1 bad day. So generally improving overall but today The Virus Creature reminded me that I'm not in charge & that they still have work to do
2mrw will be Day 21 since 1st stomach pain. I still get odd stab of pain in my lungs. From underneath where my diaphragm is through inside of the airbag. My wonderful lungs have done such an amazing job. I will never negatively judge my body again. It is incredible 💖 #COVIDー19
