Natalia Kills’ infamous X Factor episode was STAGED and blown way out of proportion: A THREAD
I would like to start this thread by saying that everything in this thread is ALLEGED. This thread is NOT meant for sending hate to anyone mentioned. I would also like to invite those of you reading to do your own research if you’re that interested.
Now, let’s begin.
For the 5th anniversary of the incident, I will be going into detail about how Natalia Kills was a victim of cancel culture being unjustly deemed a terrible person and why the general public owes her a huge apology.
Let’s start with a backstory:
In late 2014, it was announced that Natalia Kills and Willy Moon would join alongside Melanie Blatt and Stan Walker in judging during season 2 of The X Factor New Zealand.
On February 15th, 2015 the first episode aired capturing cute, cheeky, and memorable moments like this:
A few episodes in, that’s when it starts to get juicy, two contestants put on a not so good performance, then lashing out at Stan Walker with Natalia Kills coming to his defense, then rightfully fighting back.
Next episode, Joe Irvine auditioned by singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” with Natalia and the rest of the judges in amazement, saying “You gave every bit of your all, and I like you!” Full performance here:
On March 15th, 2015, the first live show of season 2 premiered with Joe Irvine’s performance of “Cry Me a River,” following these comments by Natalia Kills and Willy Moon which resulted in extreme backlash worldwide, removing them from the show.
The world proceeded to cancel them and bully them causing thousands of headlines such as:
Celebrities such as Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Jameela Jamil, and more respond.
The general public then made vulgar, racist, sexist, threatening, extremely out of line tweets such as these, some of which can still be found to this day!
Part 2:
Part 3:
Calvin Harris went to snapchat to make fun of her and Willy Moons physical appearance.
Stan Walker, fellow judge, also called her and Willy out, but made good points with this:
On March 17th, both Natalia and Willy were followed around by paparazzi which gave them the opportunity to wish Joe Irvine and others all the best on the show:
On March 19th, both Natalia and Willy issued apologies such as:
Despite being axed from the show three times, Louis Walsh told Daily Mail, “She has no class, no taste, she’ll never work again,” and more here:
Simon Cowell (of all people...) said she sounded “mad,” after Natalia rightfully said “What we said is light compared to what Gordon Ramsay, Simon Cowell and many others have said on national television and been celebrated for.”
People assumed that her record label dropped her for the incident, but actually, her and Cherrytree records parted ways months before, as said by a representative of the label in America:
Now let’s discuss why the incident was staged, starting with how up until March 15th, 2015, Natalia Kills went on to give everyone fair critiques until Joe Irvine came on stage different than usual as influenced by producers to ignite Natalias behavior, which was also influenced.
The “bullied” contestant Joe and Natalia can be seen below, hanging backstage around the time of the incident. This photo is never shown in press. It’s been said there’s more photos that haven’t surfaced. And as of the time of this thread Joe still follows Natalia on her personal
Natalia faced almost the entirety of the backlash and was thrown under the bus by the show’s producers despite simply doing what she was hired to do in the first place: play the character of the mean judge. X Factor WANTED an outspoken judge that could bring entertainment to...
...the show, but when the backlash of the show’s encouraged behavior became too much, the couple was the perfect scapegoat, all while benefitting from the worldwide exposure of the incident.
Shows like The X Factor such as The Voice, American Idol, America’s Got Talent, etc, like to control women. Christina Aguilera for example, left The Voice after being on the show from 2011-2016 because they wouldn’t let her speak her mind and wear what she wanted, and more.
The show’s most watched episode of the season came the day after Natalia’s viral outburst. However, ratings drastically declined as the season progressed, and the show was ultimately not renewed for a third season. Clear indication.
Now let’s fast forward to later in the year, in July 2015, she took to Instagram to announce she legally changed her name to Teddy Natalia Noemi Sinclair, not to escape backlash, but because it’s what her friends and family have called her by.
She’s went on to co-write “Holy Water” by Madonna. She also co-wrote “Kiss It Better” by Rihanna under a pseudonym, receiving a grammy nomination!
During late 2015, she formed a band which we now know as “Cruel Youth,” featuring herself, Willy Moon, Tina Hanäé, and Lauren Stockner.
On September 16th, 2016, the +30mg EP was released opening up about her drug addiction coping with the controversy.
Fast forward to November 18th, 2018, “Devil In Paradise,” which she describes as her most personal song yet, explains her feelings of betrayal, and mistreatment of the entertainment industry.
In December 2018, Teddy reflected on the X Factor incident in an interview with Paper Magazine:
To wrap this up, at the end of the day, we are all humans. We make mistakes. Teddy Sinclair was a victim of a highly toxic cancel culture and deserves her voice being heard! Natalia paid more than her fair share. Fighting a scripted tv moment with extreme bullying solves nothing.
It’s 2020. We need to be better than this.
