Playing FFT WotL has reminded me of something that I also thought of about 8 years ago when I replayed MGS, that being any game I originally played on the PSX for any real period of time that wasn& #39;t a sports game, I used a Gameshark.
See, I was terrible at video games, like I was at, well a lot of things. Sometimes I think there was some cognitive hiccup or something, I was awful at reacting physically and mentally on my feet (still not great). It didn& #39;t take much of this to lead to feelings of stupidity.
But playing video games was a thing you did, and I did like them, and all my friends did too. So the Gameshark was a great answer for me. I didn& #39;t have to beat myself up even if I knew I was cheating (whatever the fuck that means) and I could finish them and talk about them.
Tactics was always one of my favorites. Loved the character and art design, the story, the music, thought the combat and job system was so cool even though I was on autopilot with the codes.
So getting into WotL is exciting, but this game is not messing around sometimes! If you& #39;re wondering, "I bet he got to Dorter Trade City", I& #39;ll let you know I got my ass handed to me BEFORE then at the Siedge Weald and then went 0 for 2 at Dorter.
Went and grinded some battles to get abilities and buy gear and then showed & #39;em what was up (barely). Didn& #39;t have much trouble with the next 2 and that& #39;s where I& #39;m at for this weekend. I wish there was a quicker way to reload into a battle but I& #39;m actually liking the challenge.
The new translation is great. I was one of those dummies that didn& #39;t believe when I saw it years ago, so please don& #39;t judge me too harshly for my past indiscretions. It does actually throw me off because of how they changed places, names and groups though.
This is one of the few games I remember some things about, so I didn& #39;t even get that the Order of the Northern Sky is the "Hokuten" at first, for example. But I watched a few videos for comparison of the old translation, and wow is it bad! Go ahead and judge me, actually.
Took me two tries at Ziekden Fortress last week but I barely got it on the second try and have a good mix of units now. Been doing plenty of JP grinding, which has helped. I definitely forgot how quickly the Gaffgarrion turn is.
