During the past two weeks, a lot has happened. The WA COVID-19 outbreak has changed everything. People are dying; schools, businsses and basically everything have closed and everyone is terrified.

Fast forward to yesterday. I received a call from my new employer telling me I and four other staff members have been laid off bc advertisers were pulling out bc of the virus. They were devastated. They had every intention and hope to keep me and the others. I was devastated

Today, I had hopes my job would allow me to stay only to learn my position was being dissolved. They can& #39;t afford to keep another reporter on at this time. COVID-19 has hit them hard too. If for not the virus, they would& #39;ve kept me.

Here I am, 5:30 p.m. on a Friday, and I have no job.

I don& #39;t share this to gain sympathy. I share this to ask you--to beg you--to support local journalism.

You need us.
