Ok guys you know what? Let’s do this

1 like = 1 positive thing about ethereum

Let’s go
ERC20 is a huge success. After the failure of Omni/XCP/coloredcoins, they really took a hard look at what went wrong and created a standard that serves us all to this day
Ok that’s it I’m out
No no I’m kidding i have more
While many of the so-called “dapps” built on top of ethereum are completely centralized, they do a good job at rallying enthusiasm around fixing single points of failure. I don’t know if they’ll succeed but it’s great that someone’s trying
Lots of great research is funded by Ethereum Foundation. Things like ZK-STARKs and other types of privacy tech. Research is good, and the problems are real
ETH is, actually, a pretty liquid cryptocurrency. Probably third after Bitcoin and Tether. It’s good that we have options
No cryptocurrency ecosystem has a developer community more active than Ethereum’s. There’s a lot to say about who should be considered “Ethereum developer”. Is a dev @ bitmex a “bitcoin developer” because bitmex uses BTC? I don’t know. But they do have a larger dev community
The ethereum network had many problems over the years. Crashes, rewinds, congestion, confusing forks, you name it. But it’s still here. It’s not a solid rock like Bitcoin is, but it’s still a network built from the ground up working much better than most experiments in this space
If you’ve been watching ETH since day 1, you can’t ignore how they came a long way. There’s a rich - if somewhat centralized - ecosystem of apps and services providing infrastructure with good UX that will be hard for anyone to compete with
I have much criticism on how the Ethereum community has been reorganizing itself over the last 2 years, but look at big picture since day 0 to today, ETH did a great job at community building. It’s a passionate bunch and god knows they’re passionate even when price chart is harsh
There’s something about the culture in Ethereum that fosters financial experimentation. Now, most of it is junk, and the marketing is often downright reckless. BUT, I don’t see anyone else experimenting
Vitalik is a good leader. If I criticize him it’s because I think he should be more prominent, while he explicitly tries to step down

Sure you can criticize many decisions he made but a leader’s job isn’t to avoid all mistakes. Very few people could do what he did and still does
The “transition” to Proof of Stake so far has been... not great

But look at other coins. They slap the label “PoS” on anything, knowing full well it’s broken, and they don’t care. At least Ethereum isn’t going with obviously borked “solutions”, even at a great cost to its image
Lots have been said about Ethereum marketing at launch being deceiving. I agree to some degree. However note that it was sold as a ‘smart contract coin’, which is the only gimmick that caught on. Smart contracts are used (as opposed to zcash private txs, HNS domains, etc)
The world needs currencies with flexible supply
I swear to god this never happened to me before but I’m not stopping
ConsenSys sticking around for so long while being dragged through the mud means only one thing: Lubin truly cares
Yes, ETH did go all the way from $0.30 to $1000+, and it’s still $100+, and if you think creating so much value is worthless then I’m sorry but you have no idea what you’re talking about
Many people, especially in some specific western communities, would have never given bitcoin a second thought if they didn’t also hear about ethereum
It’s easy to look at things like casper, plasma, zk/optimistic roll ups, and scoff at how ideas are propped up for years just to be abandoned for the next buzzword. But even if ETH 2.0 never happens, the work is good and is sure to be used as reference in the future
Uniswap doesn’t have an off button
Maker isn’t decentralized. It’s theater and obfuscation. BUT THAT TOO COULD WORK
BTW if you’re wondering what’s going on here, I literally lost everything yesterday and I need some consensys funding

OK going on
There’s a lot of money to be made on Ethereum. The main reason is that so many plebs are making so many mistakes. But that’s life
This next one isn’t so much a compliment to Ethereum as it is a diss on a certain odd subgenre of bitcoiners:

Ethereum is much more interesting than RSK
They didn’t have a choice re: TheDAO
Loud hard-core ethereum people are (somewhat) happy to fund competitors

If you’re a loud hard-core bitcoiner doing the same you’re never invited to parties again
Ok timer went off, going to wash my hands brb
🧼🧼🧼

Ok hands clean

Is ETH mooning yet
if a planned bitcoin hard fork is ever attempted, we have some serious case studies to look at thanks to ethereum
Without Ethereum, we would never have the Pro-Ethereum broadcast-only telegram channel. It’s a free subscription. That’s got to mean something http://t.me/ProEthereumAlerts
Ok this is going for long enough, I’m tired, and I think you are too. See you next time fam, don’t forget to wash your hands
