as a server, i& #39;m unable to engage in social distancing at work, which makes me (and most customers in restaurants, really) vulnerable to community spread of the #coronavirus. i enjoy my job, but i& #39;m a bit on edge at work... and i won& #39;t take any shit.
last night, a guy i served three G&T& #39;s to was joking around at the bar to with other patrons. at one point he made another customer shake his hand after he said something witty.

i told him not to touch other patrons, given that we& #39;re in the midst of a viral outbreak.
his response was "i& #39;m only messing around". he then *licked his palms* and pretended to grab two draft taps on the bar, maybe a foot from my face, hands millimetres away from making contact with the taps.

i recoiled, printed his bill and told him to pay up and get the fuck out.
i enjoy my job. i& #39;ve been doing it for many years, but it’s not an easy one when things are busy, and it feels even less so when every plate i bus and every credit card i handle is a potential vector for #COVID19 to get at me.
so customers, if you do decide to venture out some night to have a bite and a pint while a pandemic is invisibly spreading all around us, do yr fellow patrons & restaurant workers a favour, a favour that you should be doing for us all anyway: keep your fucking hands to yourself.
