Panic everywhere on Twitter...

O well, Ladies and Gentlemen, the thread you have been waiting for.

Let's begin https://twitter.com/onwocheicollins/status/1238118142750199812
Let's title this:

3 Essential Product Test Phases You Must Carry Out To Protect Yourself Against Losing Money In eCom
I hinted earlier that in order to protect yourself from losing money in the eCom business model, you need to carry out these test phases

1 Test product ad for conversion

2 Test product for quality when you bring in

3 Test for acceptability
This not what I learnt in a book but in the battle field of practice. With my money on the line and at risk of going home empty handed with no food on the table.

So value this and use as I have done the experimentation for you - see me like a type of forerunner...
Test Phase 1: testing product ad for conversion

Some people are familiar with this phase where you pick up a product you think might sell.

Write your killer sales letter and run traffic to the landing page.

You don't have to have the physical product in stock.
You've done your research and you feel this product will be worthwhile for people. It will change their lives.

So you present it to a targeted audience through advertising and see if they bite.
Some do this test with just $10 for 24 hours on Facebook.

Some do it with $20.

The thing is to find out if enough people will buy the product at the price you are asking for and enough quantity to bring back enough return on your investment.
If you don't get good conversion, you probably represent your ad or change audience.

Still no good response. Dump it.

If you get a good response after that, then you have the green light to import.

But wait... it's not yet time to bring in a container load
Now it's time to enter the second phase of testing...

Phase 2: Test product for quality when you bring in a sample batch
While Phase 1 testing saves you the headache of having a bunch of products that no one wants to buy and you end up giving it all away like Santa Claus - losing money and time,

Phase 2 helps confirm if the quality is just right for the market you are selling to.
Phase 2 is important if it's a product you have never tested before especially if it is not a simple product like pieces of clothing.

Even pieces of clothing have grades. So a new merchant might tell you it is high grade but when you get it, it sinks your heart
If it sinks your heart, it is an indication you will get a lot of returns or rejections.

So you don't go out and buy very large quantity. You buy what I call a Sample Batch.

Use the sample batch to test for quality this leads us to the 3rd phase of testing
Phase 3: Test for acceptability

This is closely related to the 2nd phase but they are different.

Here is how: the quality of your product may be good but there is something that doesn't sit quite right with buyers.
So out of 10 orders, you still get a high number of returns say 3, 4 or 5.

that's a red flag đŸš©
What I will do in that situation is to look for something similar with a better acceptability.

Because the product has passed the 2 first test phases, you don't want to just abandon it.

there's hope.

Find something from another manufacturer that works better and run with that.
it might be a bit more expensive, but you want people to love what they buy and bless the day they found your product.

Not the other way round.
Only after your product has passed these 3 phases should you go all in on it.

Now you can go ahead and bring in a container load 😁
Use this strategy and you will avoid a lot of pain and loss of money.

I hope this has been helpful.

Aww. it's 9pm already.

End thread.

I'll try and answer a few questions if you have any.
