Con Crud is a short story I wrote in 2019 about childhood and the joy of communal gaming, set decades after a pandemic swept the planet.

Despite the setting, the story is heartwarming. It doesn't linger on the disease or mock its seriousness. (THREAD)

I wrote this in October of last year. It's not grim or explicit, and the disease happened 30 years in the past. A sensitivity reader described it as "more Hallmark Channel than HBO."

However, consider this a Content Warning if you're particularly on-edge about current events.
I'm really proud of it, but I wasn't going to post it. However, a number of folks who read it in the past have asked me to reconsider, saying they still think about it and that gamers would appreciate reading it now.

I hope you enjoy it, but I understand if you want to pass.
