New job alert...I will shortly be leaving the @ScotPHO team at NHS Health Scotland. After 10 amazing years, I am moving to Brisbane to take up the post of Senior Evaluation Manager @IssrUq. It still feels surreal, but it’s definitely happening (& sooner than planned)

It has been such a privilege to start and grow my career in public health at such a supportive and influential organisation. I thought I’d reflect on some of my NHS Health Scotland highlights….
I joined in April 2009. My induction task was to update & refine a monstrous Word table detailing strategies & policies pertinent to public health improvement in Scotland. The Word table became a popular page on @ScotPHO

My first main project was an analyses of 12 years of data from the now defunct Health Education Population Survey. The ‘Know Feel Do’ study showed that trends in health knowledge and motivation between 1997-2009, were often disconnected from trends in behaviour.
I then fortuitously landed on the @MESAS_phs work programme, analysing alcohol retail sales price & price band data for the 1st time in Scotland, which made quite a splash. These data have become a mainstay of @MESAS_phs & will play a crucial part in the #MUP evaluation.
Working on @MESAS_phs has been amazing for me: loads of reports to inform policy, several peer-reviewed papers & lots & lots of presentations (from Glasgow to Alaska). I feel so lucky to have worked on such a high profile programme of research & evaluation for so many years.
As well as @MESAS_phs I also led the latest phase of the #TripleI project, modelling the potential impact of different policies on health & health inequalities. It was a challenging project so it’s been hugely rewarding to see the outputs starting to inform discussion & debate.
My proudest moments? Well,....
- all of the above;
- presenting at the @WHO_Europe expert meeting in Ljubljana;
- 1st live interview on @BBCGaryR;
- being name checked in @ScotParl;

- sharing a blog and poem about my experience of anxiety, and hearing how much it resonated with, and reassured, others.
- feeling so proud of a couple of colleagues recently when listening to them do their first live radio interviews.
