Together with @nweisz2 and @gpDemarchi we show that auditory brainstem activity can be reconstructed from unseen MEG data using a backward modelling approach 1/4
The sources of measured and forward modelled brainstem activity correlate strongest in subcortical and medial temporal regions crossing the auditory pathway. Additionally both modelled and measured signals show a spread of activity from lower to higher order processing areas 2/4
Importantly the reconstruction of brainstem activity is stable when only a few stimuli are presented mimicking situations with a low signal-to-noise ratio and giving the promising outlook to use this approach in more naturalistic listening situations 3/4
