Ed Snow was 17 when he jumped into Normandy on D-DAY. He was in the 101st Airborne F Company. Here's a pic of him in his warpaint and mohawk gearing up. (His back is to us in the 2nd pic)
Ed's landing point was 22 miles away from where he was suppose to be. He and 8 others ended up relieving a group of Germans of their tank so they could reach their spot on the Drome River in time.
4 days after landing, Ed was shot through the side by a machine gun while they were trying to clear a pillbox. He made roll call the next day.
He took a second bullet under his armpit while in Bastogne. 22 guys went on patrol and he was one of nine who returned.
(Ed's the one pointing the gun)
He found Jesus on Christmas Eve in Bastogne, sitting in a foxhole with 2 other soldiers in -20°F. They hadn't had a hot meal or clear skies in 2 wks, & he was down to 2 rounds of ammo. All 3 of their Christmas wishes were answered:Clear skies, Hot food, Ammo

Patton had arrived.
He jumped at Market Garden. He considers it to be worse than Normandy and Bastogne. His buddy on the left didn't make it through Holland. This picture was prior to that jump.
Ed stayed in the army. He transferred to the 82nd so he could continue to jump. He was sent to Korea to train soldiers and then the war started. He made 2 combat jumps in Korea before being injured.
Ed was in a foxhole when they were hit by artillery. The Major next to him died. Ed's hip, leg, and back were severely injured. He had the wherewithal the trade his jacket and helmet with the Majors since the Chinese wouldn't kill an injured officer. He was taken POW.
He spent 14 months in a POW camp living off of pumpkin soup. To this day he hates the sight of pumpkins. He had his jaw and nose broken in camp, and his hearing in his left ear is still spotty from his time there. When he left, he weighed 86lbs.
Today, I got to tour the WWII museum with him. I've heard him repeat time and again that he has led the most Blessed life possible. I love this man. He is a true hero.
